Ok saturday is my first time to the track this yr and the first time with my stang. it's a 99 Cobra... i need some advise:
What RPM to launch at? do i slip the clutch?
Preheat tires? I have nitto 555R drag radials.. if so how big of a burnout?
Once i'm cool with the driving part, is it worth taking out the spare and lowering tire pressure for quicker times? i heard 18psi is the lowest that i can go...
Will i benefit from power shifting?
Deffinatly turn off traction control right!

First question is not an easy one it is gonna depend on how ya car is hooking etc.., Bottom line is your gonna have to expirement with it to find what is going to produce the best times for your car that day. Yea your gonna have to slip in some once again it depends on what ya car is doing that day at that track.
Yes preheat and clean the 555R's. Takes some practice to get the feel but basically you want to go and you will start to feel them grab a lil that's when you get off. If you don't feel it, that's ok go no more than 5-7 seconds. Your mostly just gonna clean DR's off then heat em. It's tough to feel them grab with DR's unlike Slicks which is a fairly unmistakable feeling.
Why not take the spare and jack out and tire pressure will def effect ya 60's. Tire pressure once agian is a fiddle test thing
I don't power shift with stock transmissions and I reccomend it to no1. Not worth the risk IMO.

oh and yes turn off your traction control... it'll kill your RPM's if the tires are spinning... especially turn it off before a burn out. It could be embareassing having it die down and look like you killed it... lol

i didnt know that the traction control could be manually turned off and on...is it just the newer models that have that option?

the buttons down near the shifter.. i have mine off most of the time cause it kills the motor when you lose any traction.. i think it shuts off half the motor.
