My 2003 Bravada has the 4.2i6 and the AWD. Currently it only gets between 10 and 13mpg. does anyone else have this problem. Last year the bravada had the awd chutter when trying to turn and after dealer fixed it the mpg began going down. it has 10,000 miles and everything seems fine.

I have a 2002 Bravada and get 22-23 mpg on the road (once got 23.5 on an 8 hour trip) and get around 21 around town.

A couple of things come to mind:
1- something is placing a HUGE drag on the drive train which the engine is trying to overcome.

2- clogged injectors, dirty air filter or bad plugs/wires.

I live in Colorado (currently until Uncle Sam decides he doesn't need me anymore and sends me home) and recently purchased a used 2002 with 3000 miles. Now I have about 9000 and I'm getting 19.5 combined city/hwy. Of course with 270 HP and a kicking 4 speed automatic I also somtimes forget that this is an SUV and like to blow the doors off sports cars. :-)

About a month ago my wife and I went to the beach (VA), a 6 hour trip, and I got 25.9 mpg on the way down there. though I could get it to 26.0 but didn't quit make it. This was in my 2002 Bravada. Did have the air pressure at 35 pounds and running 100% synthetic lubes. The month before we made the 8 horu trip referred to above to Ohio again and got 25.5 mpg on that trip.
