Jspec Swap for 1997 2.2CL

Hello all,

I'm new to this place, but dam'n I'm glad I found it! I have a '97 2.2CL and have done a little tuning. It has a cold air intake (iceman), headers (brospeed), cat back (brospeed), eibach pro-line kit, kyb struts, brembo cross drilled rotors, ceramic pads, and Fox rims. I'll get a picture on my Signature here soon. Inza Pearl Red with Charcoal Leather. I really like the car, but it needs more POWER! I have been looking at NOZ vs. Turbo vs. Supercharger and just when I think I made up my mind I learn about JDM engine swaps. I have a problem with the tranny in that my synchcro is going and its hard to get into fist and reverse, and unless I let it wind down to 800rpm I get a nice grind 4th to 5th.

It seems to me that a Jspec engine and tranny package would be the way to go. It looks like its about $2250 to $2500 with shipping to get 205hp. A supercharger, or Turbo kit is $3-4K. I end up with my tranny replaced and more base HP. Then I can hassle out the turbo vs. supercharger after that (a guy I know with a mod shop said supercharger with modest boost is more reliable, and attacks the tourqe problem where a v-tec needs it, at the low end).

Has anybody swapped for a Jspec engine? Can I get some opinions from all you gurus in here?

Thanks for reading this long winded post!
