In a previous post named "old road dogs"...I think...I put in a BW dwg of a 38 Buick.

I finally finished the separations for the http://www.chirco.com new t-shirt so I decided to sketch some color in the Buick as a reward for the pain I put myself through. It's a long way from being done, but I'd thought Id show you some of the steps.

It's Photoshop. I like to make selections and color using percentage based fills. I do some highlights on separate layers with the layer mode on overlay and I do others using the dodge and burn tools to get shadow areas. As you can see I haven't made up my mind where things are going to go yet, but sometimes it's fun to just let the colors find their own home.

I figure I'm about 25% done. We'll see.

I finally got a chance to come up for air. I have been building http://www.beetlecupconnection.com

I'm about to go to my studio and maybe pencil that Scion. In any case here's an update on the Buick. It's taking itself to another place...I know not where.

We'll call it 40% done...we'll see.

ok i always ask you what you use to draw you stuff...(sorry if that gets annoying)...but im gonna try and guess what the background is done with...

you did a gradient fill then added noise to it then (don't know what its called) made it go in a circle.

or if you didn't do the b/g in p.s. my guess would be it is water color.

ahhh very close

BG steps:

1. Make selection
2. Render clouds
3. Filter-Pixelate-mezzotint-long strokes
4. Filter-radial blur-zoom-80
5. Select layer
6. Image-adjust-hue saturation select colorize pick tint.
7. Duplicate layer
8. Filter distort-twirl-kinda high
9. Set layer mode to difference or overlay or whatever you like
10. Image-adjust hue saturation -whatever colorized tint you like.

I kinda mess with it till it starts to look like something.

Here's the latest. We'll call it 75%...I gettin kinda bored with it.
