How Fast?

How fast can you make a v6 :banghead: mustang, without swaping for a v8? (and please don't tell me to drop the 6 and get an 8)

As fast as your pockets are deep.

Hey GTstang can i even make it faster than the... LS1? j/k . where would you start and what if their like 5,000deep (don't wanna pay the insurance on a v8)

As fast as your pockets are deep.

Pretty much. :iceslolan

The obvious route becomes forced induction which costs to the
point where it'd be cheaper go the V8 route. Unless were talking
Nitrous, but then you better have the bottom end of your engine
rebuilt(pistons/crank). More cost. And after it's all said and done
you still be short in the torque department lacking 2-cylinders and
the displacement of a V8.

With $5K, I'd say go with FI. A turbo will be a bit safer and more economical when under normal acceleration, but they are usually a tad more expensive than a SC. Otherwise a SC will add a good amount of power to the 3.8L, just dont run too high of boost.

You can boost a 3.8 well enough to get them into the 12's. I don't remember which magazine it was, but either 5.0 mustang or MM&FF, had a issue where they had a bunch of 3.8's that were pushing some amazing numbers. I can look it up for you, but it will take some time because all my back issues are currently packed up for the move.

Yea I remember that issue with the V-6 shoout-out. To be honest I just skipped it... kinda like when the used to try to force a Focus article in there every month. Thank god they stopped that....

But yea back to the point... force induction and a call to Racer Walsh is in order for you. I admit I'm lacking on Ford V-6 knowledge unless it was made by Yamaha for the shear fact I don't care about them.

Yeah, they finally have a dedicated Fucus mag out now. They were actually pushing it in the latest issue or 5.0 Mustang.

Just as a general question, in the 99+ 6-shooters how good are the heads? Sorry if that sounds stupid, but if the basic engine components aren't up to par, then bolt-ons are in vain.

turbo that BEAST :cwm27: . Then get a good exhaust from the downpipe back.

You can get it to go straight into 10s if you have time money and expertise. First, N/a tune N/a tuneN/a tuneN/a tuneN/a tuneN/a tuneN/a tuneN/a tuneN/a tuneN/a tune! Always make your engine perform to the best it could naturally aspirated. Then you can add turbo or whatever. If it is already so powerful, imagine what a turbo can do. If you are serious, twin it. No harm in twinning. Have a good setup, like 2 diff sizes the small size for low rpm and the bigger one to carry it on for high rpm speed passes.

Are you disappointed in the stock performance? Just for your info, ford hasnt even pushed the V6 to its limit, like how honda has with its amazing S2K I4. Ford decided to let enthusiasts do it themselves, and keep stang prices and image conservative. I tell ya, theres lot of un tapped potential in that powerplant.

what do you mean n/a tune?

vette_7t9

naturally aspirated tuning. Means getting the most without any force induction like turbo. just like saying let the engine breath by itself! :)

Kdizzle

so what do you add theN?

Headers, true dual exhaust system, etc. Nothing to do with superchargers or turbos. Capiche?

If you wanna run enough boots to get below the teen line then you will have to rebuild the bottom end. That may be a good place to start. Forged pistons, rods, crank. Than a valve job and cam. A little porting wouldnt hurt either. You will need to run a good cooling system too if you are trying to keep this car as an everyday driver.

ok: pistons rods crank valvejob and cam is gonna cost me?
