Engine Codes

hey everyone, I drive an '03 GS, but I was really interested, what were the engine codes of the motors available in the eclipse since it's debut - til the 3rd gen's came out???

Are you asking for the 3g or the 2g.

Turbo or not?

I am in search of the engine codes available on all the eclipses, including 1st and 2nd generation, including the turbo, non turbo, fwd, and awd models, all the engines that ever came in the eclipse during those 2 generations i wanna know about, i've heard you can swap out the dohc on the 2nd generation eclipses with the sohc found on the 4g64 engine in the 3g's

4g63 is for the DOHC 2L engines, 4g63t is for the turbo'd DOHC 2L engines, 4g64 is the SOHC 2.4L...honestly have never seen any DSM with the 420a engine but have heard of them.

i've heard that for my 4g64 found in my 2003 gs, that i can swap out the dohc from a previous year, and put it on my engine, would that be a spyder engine - the same 4g64, or is it not dohc?

4g64 is SOHC. Whether or not you can swap a DOHC 4G63, turbo or not, is another question. Personally I wouldn't know, you should also try the 2000+ forum.

I'm not 100% sure, specially not now after finding out that I was misinformed, but I think that all 1st gens came with the 4g63

so if all the 1st generations came with the 4g63 engines then is the 2nd generation the exact same engine only with a turbo or did they make alterations to the engine and then add a turbo? and what is the Hp with a 1st gen. non turbo 4g63

The second gens had the 4g63t models for the gs-t/tsi and gsx/tsi awd. Now i've recently been told that the gs/rs/esi came with the 420a. The 4g63t come stock with 210Hp and 214ft-lbs of torque. I believe that the 420a comes with 140Hp and 140ft-lbs of torque as well.

i know the 2nd have 420A i want to know if the 1 gen and the 2nd gen have the same engine...if you get a 4g63 from a first gen. and just add all the turbo components from a 2nd 4g63t would it come out the same.. and what is the hp for the 1st gen 4g63 N/T
