Ok...i'll try to make this long story a short one.

My dad and i are going to get a SL (94-98)...my dads friend has a 94 SL auto for sale...we are gonig to go look at it today. But the thing is i dont want a auto...i want a 5 spd. He'll pay for half of it and i'll pay the other half...then when i'm 16 (next year) he will buy my half of the car and i'll get a VR-4.He doesn't want me to get a VR-4 right now...becuase its a little to much power for a kid my age...and he is right on that one too.So...my question's are

1:Should i get this one i told you about?Or,
should i wait and get a 5 spd?

I'll only have it for one year...then my dad pays me back for whatever my half of the price is...so...

2:Should i just go with the auto because of only having it for a year?Or,
Wait for a manul and learn more on them.

I have all ready been driving our 99 Ford F-350 6 speed for 3 years now.I learned on it...and i drive it with a 28 foot flat bed trailer all the time (i'm a beekeeper and do the driving for farm work if you wanted to know). So my point is...i know how to drvie a stick.I just want to know what i should do?

BTW...if i do get the 94 SL that i told you about...i'm sure i could get a really good deal because of the salesmen being one of my dads good friends...so thats a plus :naughty:

I'd say get the auto...its only a year, if you can get a good deal on it, then why not. If you know how to drive stick, then you wont really need a practice car before you get the vr4. I had an auto honda before I could get my vr4. So why not...

I wouldn't really call rocking an SL "toughing it out"
222hp is a hell of alot better then a 90 accord with a whopping 130 and I wont even mention its torque

your how old? 15? when i was 15 i had a first gen civic, then a corolla, then a buick, then a 1st gen integra, then a 2 gen integra, finnally i got my 3kGT... i'm 18 now... don't pass up the SL, having any car is better then no car... besides, the SL is a very nice car, i'll get the vr 4 when i get out of collage. o, and yeah, lucky azz.... yeah you know i'm jealous... lolz..

HAHA...i went to go look at the car yesterday...it was ok...the price (in my mind) was alittle higher then i would like it.It was the dark green color with a whiteish leater interior (for all of you who dont know that SL's have leater lol jk) it had 69,031 miles on it.One thing that i didn't like is the front two seat's color didn't match the back seat's.I dont know why tho.I think it had been repainted. The passenger head light looked like it was fogged up or something. The front bumper was sorta cracked...like...paint was coming off and like i said...it looked like someone took a hammer to it.One little dent on the fender.Paint looked good.Interior was ok...somelittle stuff here and there.Now...the engine haha.I got in the drivers seat...all cool and everything...i put the key in the key hole (as you should) turn the key off to on then start (as you should) and nothing happens...so i try it again...nothing.So i pop the hood again.I look over everything...i didn't see anything wrong. The saler says "the alarm system kept going off for no reason" so i started looking around more...and then i see this wire right beside the battay...so i pick up the wire and put it up right beside the metel of the - part of the battay. And the horn starts going off...so i take it away from it...it stops. At this time i'm thinking its the alarm system...but why would the alarm system make the car not start? So i find the connetion for the horn and disconneted it.Then i put the wire to the metel and nothing happened.I was like ok...good.So...i had the salesmen hold the wire and i'll try starting it.Guess what...she fires up.So the car was not starting because of the alarm system not being hooked up.Sorta of a cool deal.

So after all that it was 6:12 and they closed at 5:30 lol.

It was a 95...i told you 94...sorry about that.

He wanted $8,900 for it...i could have talked him down a little more...but i could tell he wanted to go.So i didn't.So after all that...for 8,900 was a little to much for me.Maybe 6k for it...but not $8,900.

The dude had a 91 VR4 with like 130k miles, red...and he wanted $7,500 for that.I would have got that but i was in cali and by the time i got back home (in ks) it was sold. But what i'm trying to say is the VR4 should be 8,900 and the SL 7500.But whatever.

I just wanted to tell you guys how it went.My search is still on lol.

HAHA, that sounds like quite the ordeal...if the alarm keeps going off, the battery might be dying. Also the alarm goes off anytime you reconnect the wire after disconnecting it, all you have to do is hit the disarm button. Regardless, don't get discouraged, keep looking.
