Tell me what you think of this: An electronically controlled cut-out before the cat. Pipe attached to the straight branch and cat attached to the other branch and attached back together with a both end open cut-out. How many hp gains when on the straight pipe?

why do all that work, just weld in the cutout and be done w/ it

Well the cutout is too loud to use on-road but this way i will have the cat off all the time except for inspection time.

With all the extra piping you'll be adding the extra weight will negate the extra ponies you'll get.
Weld in the cutout before the cat, put a qtec or mccord power plate on it. You can open and close it whenever you want.

I have seen people that put a small resonator at the cutout and that dissipates noise a little. I agree with Ripn12s to much hassle to just have a cutout. The electronic shut off is sweet tought. I would install the cut out with the electronic shut off and open and close it at will. That is sweet

I have heard and seen that there is no room before the cat to add a cutout....how do you plan on finding room for this?

No one has told me yet how much hps I'll get considering that I have already removed the ubent and resonator and I have good flowing mufflers. With the cutout I might also put a resonator to make it quite. Anyone thinks I'll get hps worth the effort?

Even if that is true you can always cut from the after and move the cat forward a few inch.

I went from 14.00s to 13.8's w/ all mods being equal except a cutout. So it helps.
Adding a cutout before the cat is possible. What you need to do is have a shop cut a whole in the pipe and then weld in the 3 bolt flange thing that the cap attaches to.

I thought the 97-03s had room but I do know it would be very difficult on the 04s because the cat is moved way forward.

The only way to do it on 04 is to move the cat after the little bend and on it's place do the cutout
