i have a 2000 4runner V6 4x4 SR5 bought in southern cal. its got all the bells and whistles - but absolutely no power. i don't think there's anything wrong with the engine - but does anyone know a quick DIY way to get more? a power chip? exhaust? anything short of retro fitting a TRD super charger!

I would do exhaust first. I'm sure someone makes headers for your truck. After that I would do the chip.

I've heard not so good things about the chip.
This is just what I heard. Since Toyota's programing is already set to perform at a relatively high level, replacing the chip with a performance chip will give you little, if any, noticeable power increase. Example, Chevy's programing is set relatively low, in comparison to what it's potential may be; therefore, making program changes to a Chevy may be very noticeable.
I would start off with a beefy exhaust system and good air filtration. A supercharger is quite expensive, but it gives you the most noticeable power increase.

yep exhaust is what you need i used Downey Offroad headers cat and muffler lil loud but nice power improvement if you do get headers you might wanna get better air cleaner stock 1 is a bit choked up for the airflow the headers would like

i've also heard the chip is more expensive than its worth - i guess that's what they meant. thanks for the confirm. sounds like breathing better is the key. the super charger is buqu $$ when you consider the almost inevitable tranny overhaul to take the increased HP. nice dyno chart. thanks for the advice guys. 1st step: anyone know where to get a free-er flowing air cleaner? they can probably get me to the headers from there.
