94 z28 Camaro Rear end problems

I have a 94 z28 Camaro and at the begining of august last year my spider gears broke, and i have a new carrier and gears put in. I had a richmond 4:10 ring and pinion gear put in, and im not sure what kind of carrier unit. 4 months later a tooth broke off the ring gear, but the gears were sopose to hold up to 450 hp, and i am only pushing 285. The shop ordered some other gears that were sopose to be stronger, but friday i was coming home from a trip and my rear end started whinning. i got it up on a lift at a friends house and found oil on the bottom of the rear end housing. the very back ring on the yoke going into the rear end was away from the housing about 1/8 of an inch. What i am wanting to know is, "Will the stock rear end not support a 4:10 ratio without a spacer?", "Would a Trans am rear end support 4:10 gears?", "would the carrier unit make a difference", "why would the bearings and seals be burning out so easily?" Anyone who can help will be appriciated. thanks

I think it is supposed to be a third series carrier.

yeah, sounds to me like crappy workmanship, if a rear end is set up properly than you shouldnt be having these problems, for the pinion to actually come out from the housing the bolt holding it in place would have to come loose, or not been proporly torqued to begin with, inproper contact pattern and backlash settings would create all the problems your talking about. the stock rear end should handle 4.10 gears and 285hp just fine. take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

NO. if you go to 4.10 you need to get special spacers/paddels and a few otehr things to help keep the 4.10 in thier. www.slponline.com has the parts you need

yeah the 4.10 will work on stock rear ends just the mods are inside. so you put those spacers on and it will look stock from the outside ^.^

what gear did you car come stock with? If it was the 2.73 or 3.08 then you'd need a spacer. But if it was stock 3.23 or 3.42 then 4.10 will fit with out a spacer..I think.

LOL!!! really now i got ya beat! i was replacin my radiator in my 84 camaro and i almost got it out then my hand got cut up bad by the condenscer... soooo (its an emty R-4 system) i take out the condencer and take a sledge hammer, cinder block brick to it, toss it 20 feet in the air and bent it in half! lets say that condenscer saw my bad side ^.^;;

Richmond doesnt say anything about spacers or paddles. Just on which series carrier is used. 3.08 and lower or 3.23 and higher. The paddles SLP sells are for the governor style posi units. Sounds like it just wasnt set up correctly.

heater core is in the cab you must mean the radiator or condenser

what about a bent axle tube? would that cause enough heat to hear on the spyder gears, and cause the ring gear to get hot enough to break, and cause all the seals to get burnt?

Probably not. You would be wearing out axle bearings and there would be a bad wear pattern on the axle from the bearing.
