I'm a man in my mid 20's and am currently stuck; as to what to do with my life.
I am thinking of a career in the autoparts industry (prefereably at a GM dealership).
I currently am employed at a GM only auto reclycling company in Canada.
I am a partsmen there, and am very succesful here. But I am recently married and am hoping to start a family. My opportunity for advancement
is moderate, my wages are adequate (NO BENEFITS-can't start a family on it)
My question is, What salary range can a GOOD partsman expect to earn
after his apprenticship. If someone can give me a guess-ti-mate that is in the field, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have seen anywhere from $10 to $30 CDN an hour for partsmen, depending where you work, and what kind of crap you are willing to put up with. Are you red seal certified? if you are, that will help with finding a decent job with halfway good pay, and some benefits. If you are not certified, get that way, it opens a lot of doors, as well as one that might interest you, in that if you have your parts certification, it allows you to write time off against a warehousing certification in the future.
Food for thought.
