Hi ya'll, did a little research on the flowmaster series 40 delta flow and series 50 delta flow. any one see any problem with a 3'' in and dual 2.25'' outs exiting out the side in front of the rear tire with the nascar style super truck tips; on a '96 silverado extended cab short bed? I'm just pumping a 305 v8... any other input would be appreciated if ya'll have any experience with these 2. I'm making a decission by friday night.
Thanks.
Steve

Go for it and tell us how they sound. I would probably go with the 50 series, to just get away from the enormous amount of cab noise the 40 series will have. I have the 70 series, they have virtually no cab noise and only have a deep mellow sound outside. So yeah, I'd def. go with the 50 series sicne you are bringing them out in front of your back tire. This will make them louder then ifyou jsut brought them out the back, and believe me, 40 series are LOUD! lol.

hey chevytrucks92,
does that loudness on the 40 series include the DELTA FLOW 40series model being really loud also. I got all the graphs and charts for comparison from flowmasters website. Sitn on a fence here , but leaning towards the 50 series just going off the graphs. Plus I'm an army pilot and don't need the extra in cab noise after siting in an apache for 3hours a day. :iceslolan Still though wondering if I could put up with the slight differences between the two. sounds like i've made up my mind with the 50's,,,no wait the 40 deltaflows ,,,no the 50s,,,aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! somebody just slap me...by friday i say, by friday....

Well, a couple friends of mine has the 40 series (just plain I reckon) and they sound really good, but they have ALOT of cab noise, especially compared to my 70 series (virtually no cab noise). I personally would go with the 50 series, but whatever you decide, be sure and KEEP your converter, becuase if you don't, then they will be unbarrably loud and will slap. Hope that helps.

10-4 Archer24. I hope they sound good for ya and that you like it. I was very pleased with my 70s run out the back with 3-inch tips (the picture I have posted was taken 5 days before I got the muffler). If I have to change exhaust, I may look at the 50s too, as long as they don't have much cab noise. That's what I like about my 70s, they have just a little more cab noise then factory exhaust, and a deep low rumble on the outside.
Congrats. on your FMs though, I know you will be happy, just try and keep your foot out of the throttle body though!

ok
FM 50series deltaflows are on along with a airaid intake,,,HOLY CRAP!!!...they're awsome. wife went with me to pick up the truck and said "I know thats not your truck, that can't be your truck!" I said "oh yes it is!!!! :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan .
Instant noticable increase in takeoff and up to speed mph with this combo... and I would have said the 40 series delta flows would be too loud just based on the 50s here. Eveyone here at RUCKER has the normal tones or the everyday muffler shop weld on. THESE 50's are perfect!!! I'll try to get some pics up if I figure it out... :cwm27:
Thanks for the advice here CHEVYTRUCKS92

1999 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext. Cab (old body style) 305 (5.0 liter) single exhaust
I just had a Flowmaster 40 series Delta Flow put on my truck. It is a single in, single out, offset muffler, with 3" inside diameter on both the inlet and outlet. I also opted for a 3" aluminized tail-pipe and a 3" to 3.5" chrome tip. The original piping was 2 3/4" outside diameter. I am pretty happy with the final result. The in cab resonance is barely noticable at idle, definitely noticable when accelerating, and not bad when just cruising. The outside tone sounds really great, especially when I step on it. Idle has a nice outside tone as well. I also was trying to decide between the 50 series Delta Flow and the 40 series Delta Flow and I probably would be just as happy with the 50 series. I'll post in a couple of weeks to let you guys know if the in cab resonance is driving me nuts. Maybe I'll post some pics, as well...
