Idea for a new contest

I had a thought after april fools day. What if us graphic manipulation guys had a contest where we post a thread of a car we chopped saying it was a new concept, or the next version of some car, or a racing version or whatever. And whoever got more people to believe it, or the best response would win. And we could all check out the threads and see how it's going. After a certain period of course we'd have to reveal that they're fake as to not be the cause of any rumor spreading.

just post a pic in one of the car forums on this site and be like this is the new sentra SE-SR concept..

haha that would be a sick contest but hard to track the results for... I was thinking of doing something like that after this chop I did of the next gen GTR. I posted here, PSC, and digimods but it got crossposted to alot of 350Z/G35, GT-R and Nissan enthusiast sites in the US, UK, Australia and Japan and I'm sure a bunch of others I haven't seen. If it was cropped and didn't have the watermark it might have been believable as a Nissan concept rendering or something

The trick to making it look real is... make it look like you don't want people to see it. Make the image quality kinda crappy and chop duct tape all over the car like so it looks like a spy shot of a test car. But this contest would be awesome ^_^

Yeah it would be pretty hard to both make a submission and run the thing. There would have to be rules like no hinting at or exposing other peoples chops until it's over, and people should avoid posting in the same areas as others. I definately don't have the experience to run the thing, so if anyone who has run contests and feels up to it, please do, it'd be interesting to see how it turns out.

Yeah and there'd be all these different strategies like either making them like spy photos or renderings from the designers. Spy photos would be a challenge of making it look genuine, and renderings would be hard because they'd have to be super clean.

And then writing about it would have to be an art in itself, not giving too much information (cause there's always someone who knows more about car makes' plans than you), but just enough to make it believable.

run a double post. ud have to carefully do the bkgrd, as it would have to be nu, to avoid suspicion. if u had a private post, probably not possible, we could make our chops, agree on the best one and conspire to use that one, since tons of them floating around would just be dumb

i agree with streetracr, we should vote for which one is used to trick people. Cuz if 15 new spy photos start surfacing in different forums, people are gonna get suspicious.

Ill tell you what you guys should do. Keep all further discussions regarding this idea on PM's. I can delete this thread and all trace of it. It hasnt been viewed that many times and hopefully those who have browsed through it won't give the game away.

Anyway, here's what i suggest: if it's not too difficult, one of you is nominated to receive the entries for this "new concept car". Whoever wants to enter the contest sends this person their image, which is hosted on another site. When it becomes the time to vote you simply send a PM to the intermediary who's doing all the organisation behind the scenes. How does that grab everyone, and who wants to organise it?

I just suggested the idea; it basically needs one person who can be bothered to deal with all the entries by PM. Once a handful of entries are completed, they can be put up on a site from which the best 'concept' can be picked. All i need is someone to come forward, which you have, but a little more feedback from everyone else in this thread would be good before we go ahead with it. So far it looks like it was all talk and no one can actually be bothered to do anything about it. Shame :(
