Hey hopefully you guys can help,

I have 1997 honda prelude 5spd that soemtimes stalls while I'm driving it (happens every so often). Oftentimes I just restart the car by putting it down to a lower gear or by simply turning the igntition again. It has some modifications (intake, exhaust) and I'm thinking it is a result of the poor flow from my exhaust or maybe a damaged cat? I've also heard that there was a recall on 1997-2000 honda models regarding a faulty ignition switch? Either way, I don't know too much and need some help. The car doesn't drive as a quick as it used to (no back pressure and feels slow off the line) Any help? Is the problem in my exhuast or elsewhere? Thanks in advance

What diameter exhaust piping are you using? It probably doesn't explain the stalling, but it might explain your lack of power..

On my 88 lude the thing would stall alot when it got hot. the high speed idle valve on the back of the throttle body plume was completely plugged with sludge. there is a bowl on the bottom of it where the coolant runs through (thermal valve)... I took the valve off the throttle body and took the bowl off the bottom of the valve and cleaned it out. BE CAREFUL AND MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COLD OR YOU WILL GET SPRAYED WITH HOT COOLANT. Then I sprayed the inside of the valve with carb. cleaner and followed up with some WD-40 after it dried... works like new. DON'T adjust the diaphram valve inside... it it factory set.
