what kinda tires should i get for my max? i really want the michelin pilots but they are $$$. there were falkens at sears for $130 a tire. being that this is my 1st car with tires bigger than 15's i am very fuckin' surprised at how much tires for this car cost. i'm used to spending $75-$80 a tire. the michelin's were $200 a tire.

I got the pilots about 6 months ago, and they are worth every penny. Traction is 10x better, especially on sand and gravel and shit. Spent about $850 with my emplyee discount, inluding mounting and a replacement warranty. Falken is a pretty good brand, I guess. IMO, tires are the most important performance part for your car, cause they connect you to the road. Without good tires, you can't have good anything.

I have a 2000 max with 56k miles. My Potenza's lasted about 48k miles.
They where good dry, bad wet horrible in snow.

I replaced them with a set of Copper's. There better all around and run about 120-130 a piece. There the stock size 225-50-17 and look good.

Yeah, these freakin Pretendas are expensive, I went and had some priced and it was 194.00 per tire (I was like WTF):screwy:.

The only tires that I found in this size that were comparable were Cooper's and they were 127.00 per tire.

Get you some Kumho's 225/40R17's or Cooper 225/50R17's they cheaper and perform better than the cheap aZZ Pretendas and the tread looks better too.

yeah the potenza's definitely suck in snow. i'm in NY and i almost crashed 3 times in one trip during that snow storm the NE had.

i had a set of cooper GT cobra's on my 95 maxima and i liked them pretty good.

i'd get the michelin's if i had the money but i also gotta fork out $250 to fix the TSB for my bose head unit cutting out on the left side. i'm lookin at $1200 just to make my damn car normal. i still want to get the catt-man catback exaust and y pipe and tuition for school is due soon. :banghead:

damn, i'm kinda stumped. i don't wanna cheap out and regret it. i guess it's good that i have a high limit on my credit card. looks like i'll be needin it in the months to come.

Why not go with the Frankencar Exhaust?

I had the copper cobra's on a 92 dodge shadow V-6, believe it or not that car handeled awesome. The Copper Cobras were like glue wen dry on turns and breaking. The Coppers I have on the max now are not as sticky as the cobras but there so much better than the Potenza's. I live in NJ and know about the snow and ice. You'll be happy with the Coppers, why spend more for some French made tire?

i'm open to whatever, i just need a little "bwhoom bwhoom". only thing is that it has to be a resonated system. i was sort of set on cattman because he recently produced VQ35 headers and i was thinking i could get the y pipe and catback now and the actual manifold later. but after looking at the y pipe that comes with the headers, compared to the standalone y pipe, they don't look the same at all, so it doesn't matter.

what's the sound like w/ a Frankencar?

Well, I'm happy to hear some positive feedback re: the Cooper brand. I'm needing tires myself on my 03 and it looks like the Coopers are the most reasonably priced tires out there for our Max's. I just wasn't sure how good they looked on the car. I'm sure you can all agree, we can't have any cheezy lookin tires on our rides! Glad to hear that they handle well also. Looks like I'll be picking some up once my tax refund comes in! And I guess I'll have to wait another couple months for that new sound system I wanted! WHAAAAA!

Why couldn't I have been born wealthy instead of good looking??!!!! HAHA!

i think i may go with the coopers too, considering that they will eventually turn into winter tires anyway when i get some rims and a drop, somewhere down the line.

some guy was talking about buying my 4 wheeler so if that goes through i'll get the michelins.

From the soundclip I heard, that Frankencar sounded pretty throaty and that is the sound I like, not those little ricerz who sound like a Cropduster Airplane taking off.

yeah i hate that too, my friend just got a comptech catback system for his 01 acura CL type S and it's too quiet. i definitely want some sound with it, but not raspy, ricey, noise.
