high compression vs. high boost

I realize to have high boost you must lower your compression to avoid detonation. However, what is the advantage of low compression and high boost over higher compression and lower boost. Thanks.

high comp w/ low boost give better throttle response and better off-boost economy whereas low comp w/ high boost yields more power and this is what most people want.

lower compression just gives you more room for mistakes, it doesn't yield anymore power. You get the Torque/Hp from uping the boost. The only motor i would lower the compression for is the B18C5(type R) engine.

if u haven't noticed , i said low compression w/ high boost, and this will yield more power, not just by low compression alone. this is the reason why people low comp ratio in the first place, to increase the boost, thus achieving more power.

My post was directed at you but ok. What do you consider high compression. Low compression can only take you so far. I really see no point in lowering your compression unless they are insanely high. I'm pretty most of us aren't going to go fully built drag cars, so i'd say leave the compression where its at unless it is in the 11's

the b18c5 with a c/r of 10.6:1 would be consider high compression. even the b18c1 should even consider lowering its compression if it wants to see better power gains by going the forced induction route. this is why the ls has the advantage over a gsr if we look at a stock motor point of view, due to its lower comp, it can be able to boost at a higher psi thus achieving more power (hp/tq).
