I finally got in a race, a decent one. I'm on my way to the bank this morning, and I stop at a light, I see a Beemer roll up....its an M3, mid 90's. He looks over, and I know the shit is on. Light turns green and I just roll because he dosent hit it, he follows, rolls and punches it. I roll onto the gas untill i'm at 4K so I dont overbost and slam on it, he shifts right as I spool up and catch up, I shift as he begins to pull, and it was over he was already in my rear view as I was at 7k in 2nd. By third I was all grins.

German superiority is about refinement and engineering, not on which owner has more mods. Your 240SX is faster than his M3. Congrats on the kill...
But that doesnt make the stock M3 any less superior to the stock underpowered 240SX.

Mid-90s eh?
Well a '96 M3 w/Auto Trans runs a 15.3... I would hope you'd win.
You should run Felix's M3... they run mid 14s. Some of the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in...
M3's are great.. they've got Speed, Comfort, and they look Bitchin. So, Yeah German Superiority. :p
Of course, only thing that surpasses the M3... is the M5 of course.

Of course, the new M3s and M5s are about equal as far as acceleration and speed goes......so it's just a preference.....between 6 or 8 cyliners, or 2 or 4 doors.

yes it may be a stock motor but it has a ton of boltons which help the motor breath better and give better throttle response.. tune the m3 and see whats up.. not that i dont love imports especially a 240sx with a sr20det, but it was basically tuned v.s. stock.. still nice kill i would also talk about killing a m3 if i did..

I am wondering how many lbs are you boosting on your turbo system?
I can see how you may have won against the M3. It might have been an auto or a bad driver. But none the less it is still a kill. I will give this kill to you but there is always a car out there that is faster than you. You might want to run against another M3 to test you wits. Oh yeah it still is German Superiority because of the build quality of the car!
By the way what do you clock in anyways in a 1/4 mile???

I think what they mean when they say "german superiority" is its far superior price. The price of a 3 series is FAR superior to any other comparable car in it's category. Who knew you'd end up shelling out 50 grand for a 3 series that isn't an M car?

I just dont like ignorant statements from people whove modified underpowered cars to beat a stock car that they otherwise couldnt have and then make a claim that their car is a superior make/model.
Its like a civic owner who thinks a b16 hatch that runs Mustang GT times with a gutten interior is the equivilant to owning a Mustang GT.

If you are referring to the MR-2, then you are hopefully talking about a) the late 80's 4-cyl, E30 M3's, or b) the four-door, automatic versions of the E36. Otherwise, that statement just isn't true.
And before you say anything, I have owned an MR-2 before, but never any type of BMW (so far), so if anything, I am biased towards the Mister Two.

The Evo E36 M3(320hp) is just a hopped up E36 M3(240hp). The new M3s called the E46 M3 have 333hp. Now BMW MAY make a E46 Evo which would have more than 333hp. Think of it like this...the M3 Evo is to the M3 what the STI is to the WRX.

Well this is the first time I have posted but I could not remain silent. I have a stock Audi RS4. Now this is a very plain estate car I am nor sure what you yanks call that. But it will do 0-60 in 4.7 and on real roads i.e. with corners and hills unlike the boring long straights you lot are used to the quarto system will allow you to calmly pull away from almost anything especially in the wet.
Now the basic problem is that the USA are not known for their engineering prowess when it comes to handling. I would have to concede on the Shelby and new mustang but as long as a car can go quickly in a straight line it is considered good enough for a straight line.
Now don’t take this the wrong way I know this is all about the drag but couldn’t let you down talk German superiority which is still prevalent in the automotive industry.

Haha its a joke its not serious. German Engineering is pretty good.
Though you gotta take into account that the Mercedes engines in formula one aren't the best since they keep failing. :D
Subaru is using a Variable Valve timing system which is similar to what Porsche uses in its cars. I think the Technology has been licensed. Though German superiority doesn't go very far when you seen advertisements on TV about why BMW uses rear wheel drive - those ones are so dumb.
Audi RS4's are monsters 350hp twin turbo V6 stock and they cost enough.
HAHAHA @ what TV said
Note that the guy who posted is Irish and the British press + Media pretty much say American Engineering is shite all the time.

Yes it is true I am Irish what gave it away, but I don’t agree that USA engineering is always berated over here. European cars are designed to cope with twisting B roads and that is the way we like them. USA cars do not have to worry about handling to the same extent. It is due to this that there are very few cross over vehicles between Europe and US.
Now before you start to list the many European cars you can see when you look out the window think about it the other way around. All the European cars over there are those that are quick in a straight line but also have good handling characteristics. But in Europe there are very few US cars because they are not nice to drive on demanding roads. Now I may be generalising but it’s my opinion.
It is for this reason I feel European cars are best i.e. a good European car is good in the USA but a good car in USA is not always something sought after on this side of the pond.
And we also have very refined engines partly due to the price of fuel. We work in Liters but it is roughly $7.08 a gallon for petrol (sorry gas) in this country. We have to pay like 70% fuel tax. That is why we have diesel Golf’s and Audi’s with close to 200bhp and 500lb of torque. I wasn’t down talking USA engineering as much as it does not translate as well in Europe.

Dude i'm english i know you know you have no fucking clue what you're talking about now leave and don't come back untill you learned something about American cars. IE The Camaro SS can do 35MPG which is probably better than your RS4.
Refined engines? Europe had to up their game when Japan entered the mix with more efficient engines. YOU HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT CARS GO HOME AND PARK YOUR CAR IN THE GARAGE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN AND THE ENGINE RUNNING. PS Japan still has more efficient cars because of their Taxing system on vehicles.
And PS The latest Golf GTi's handle like shit. Audi can bite me they're over priced and i'd rather by a Saab or a Volvo.

:nono: Ah nice to meet someone who knows so much about cars. So which GTI are you talking about will it be the GTFsi the GTTdi or perhaps the top of the range which is yet to be released.
Now I am impressed that you were able to prove me wrong about European efficiency compared to the USA by telling me how efficient Japanese cars are. You are the type of guy who trys to win an argument by saying "so there " aren’t you. :iceslolan
So have you anything else to contribute like you seem very angry. I am not really sure what u are talking bout.
Like “Dude” you are English so try and have a bit of dignity. Do all you lot go looking for a fight. I believe I said many words such as ”I feel” and “we also have very refined engines” for most people these words convey an opinion. Now get a life and if you know so much reply with valid points instead of simple mine is bigger that yours rhetoric.
Oh yea and PS good choice on the Saab and Volvo I know this thread was originally started to discuss German cars but i am pretty sure I was talking up European cars and last time I looked Sweden was in Europe.
So you English tosser go home took at your Max Power mag and I am sure you will be back with some awe inspiring argument with facts and figures to compensate for either your lack of manhood or just intelligence.

what and you're no the sort of person that says So there. By the way i don't subscribe to that Max Power shit.
You're the one that only selected German cars as examples - By the way Saab is owned by GM so is pretty much american and Volvo is owned by Ford and Volvo produces its cars to suit the American market not to mention that the Swedes are quite obsessed with American Cars.
You're northerm irish toss monkey got back to blow each other up. You're as usefull as Gerry Adams.
Ok as with efficiency
Honda draws power from using Vtec no? Variable Valve timing and electronic lift control. Nearly every one has it, Ford has Zetec GM have Ecotec. Porsche is using the same technology as Subaru for its Variable Valve timing because they both use boxer engines. Renault now has Variable Valve timing. Nissan has variable Valve timing. BMW has variable valve timing. Toyota has variable valve timing.
Hell everyone has variable valve timing. Now my point is going to be what? Honda produces the most efficient variable valve timing as they get more power out of a smaller engine. BMW pretty much is level on technology and also has Variable Timing control which is pretty much the same as the Vanos system which is what BMW uses. However BMW uses double Vanos which operates on both Exhaust and Intake cams only on the M3. They don't use it on the other vehicles. Honda also produced the Hybrids which run with Electric and Petrol engines. You know what electric is you Irish inbred or are you still using candles.
At the moment Mazda is working on a Hydrogen Rotary Engine - can you say no exhaust - but thats not efficiency
efficiency is what you get out over what you pay for.
And what you paid for is a fucking lot for a RS4 which would get whooped by a cheaper Mitsy Evo.
Though what you pay for is the fuel you put in not that actually price - i was having a dig at you because you're annoying to say the least.
I probably have to tell you this since you're probably some dumb fuck with too much money on their hands so they decided to buy a RS4 to show off to the company execs and still have the Estate capabilities for their little brats.
The thing is with your car is that it understeers like a bitch it sucks but a S4 turns better. So much for Quattro and the 4 wheel drive ey. If you want to know what i mean - do one hard turn left followed quicky in sucession by one turn right and plow into a deep canyon and do the world a favour maybe you can pile some IRA twats in with you.

I forgot to mention the Germans aren't doing so well anymore
maybe Toyota will have to show them how to make cars for a second time round.
PS your Nazi panzer wagon is shit.
I take things personal when ignorant shits from Ireland suggest that i read max power. Though i did make the mistake of subscribing to Super Street instead of Sport Compact Car but i wouldn't expect you to know those two because you've probably never set foot out of your shitty part of the world

Want me to explain Variable Valve timing?
And show you some calculations for efficiency?
I want to also mention that Petrol Engines can be 35% efficient according to a perfect cycle but unlike most people engineers know that you can only get as close to perfect as possible because thats what we do.

Man how are you ragging on a RS4? Its better then any SAAB or Volvo. Sorry but if you ask me (which no one did) they both suck. They both make slow ass cars and from what I have heard SAAB is not reliable. Also I’m SOO sick of Volvos dumb new commercials trying to get people to think their cars are race cars. And so what if ford or GM owns them? Ford owns Land Rover and Jaguar, you going to call them American. If so I wouldn’t open your mail box personally. However I do agree with you about Germans going down hill. Its really depressing to me. BMW's and Audi's reliability have both gone down. And Mercedes keeps on wasting money on dumb cars like the 25k+ FWD hatch back with no power. There is hope though. BMW is looking into a RWD hatch backs and more sporty cars like the new 6 series. VW I has launched a successful SUV and the R32 golf I think is awesome, a little pricey but still awesome. And hopefully Audi will get its act together and get their reliability back on par. Not trying to attack Saab or Volvo I guess their good for what they are but hey you attacked Audi.
