Putty's

Well i was thinking of getting some putty to try and make a body kit. But i don't know what kind to get. I can get any tamiya stuff easyly. So i would like to know what type of putty to get and what else to i need to get.


And i did do a search and no i couldn't find anything that would help me.

I use Tamiya Basic putty

worked on my S2000 and my Skyline V35

i have used the squadron white and green putty, both work great and sand smooth

Where can I get the Squadron Putty? Sorry to bring this back up from a week ago, but I have been looking everywhere and I'd found bondo and marine epoxy, and I found the Tamiya Putty online.

FYI it will be for making/shaping a body Kit on a 1:24 S2000 and also on a 1:18 RX7.

Hobby Shop. And I suggest using Tamiya's putties, especially there epoxy putties as they are among the strongest putties around. With Squadron there is a Chemical called Toluene which is deadly...May want to watch out for that.

For body kits i would suggest Tamiya Epoxy putty. The basic grey putty is hard to model of it's long drying time and it's almost liquid consinstency.

If you can't get Tamiya's stuff, as I, you can use craftsman epoxi putty, you can buy it in any craft store, it's cheap and it come in any color you want.

Anyone have some info on creating body kits? I need some major help with this.

For simple shaving I suggest the Super Glue/ Baby Powder mixture.. dry's harder then a rock!

I use Stylmasta A+B epoxy putty, is workable up to 2hs, water can be used to get smoother surfaces, and when it gets dried its hard like a rock, it can be easily sanded and cutted or wathever you want after. I'll post as soon as take the pics a widebody Skyline R-34 GT-R, I've based the kit on one of the widebody kits of the game NFS Undergroung.

To do a body kit first you have to think it well, and if its game based or real life, use pics of every angle, if its on your own.... try to draw it, use styrene, cant say right now the correct number, a thin one so it can be bended ?¿ (curved) easily, and you have to draw the basic shape on the styrene, cut it and place it on the car, and after you have the shape in styrene, cover it with the putty and give it the final shape with various putty aplications, or one, depends on the part or the kit, after this... sand, if you use the putty that I've said, is better to start with a rough sandpaper 280grit or so, after 380, and finally 500 or 600 and 1200 to get a smooth surface for the primer, check with primer.. and putty and putty again til its finished!!!

Its a pitty cause I dont have progress pics, but you'll be able to check the results soon, maybe tomorrow but for sure next week, keep an eye for complete and in progress forum for the skyline :naughty:
