my friend offered this car to me for 500 bucks. i want to know, is this even worth it? the car is 4drs, an automatic, the trans is kinda iffy. the motor, body, and interior are in excellent shape. I tried looking for a straight forward page with information on these, but came up short. I believe the car has the B18A in it, but I am not sure if it has vtec or not. where is the best place to look up stats and jistory for the integra? thanks for the help and thanks for educating me on this car, and possibly preventing me from wasting 500 bucks.

The B18A is a non VTEC engine. It comes with about 140 HP. How many miles are on the engine? I have a 93 integra RS 2 door. It had 187,000 miles on the motor before I Swapped it out and it was still running hard. If everything seems to be in good shape, it seems like it might be a good buy. Plus it would be a good project car.

I think it has about 140,000 on it. a project car yeah, but how is the 4dr comparable in weight to the h/b or the 2dr. plus, its an auto.....

140,00 isn't bad, you should see if the timing belt has been changed withen the last 40,000 miles or so. If not I would change it and maybe the water pump while your down there. If the oil has been changed regularly and other things have been maintained the engine should still run strong. As far as the weight difference... I couldn't give you exact numbers but I don't think it would be more than a 2 or 3 hundred pound difference. Although it is an automatic I have seen some fast ones. It all depends on how much money you have to put into it. You can make anything fast if you have enough money.

ok, well, in that retrospect, whats available out there really for the B18A. I looked through a JC whitney catalog and found sone stuff like suspensions, and bolt ons.... I read in the FAQ about making a "frankenstein" motor. would that be something to do, or that for the swaps into civics? can the B18A handle boost? can it support pretty high numbers, say 220+??

i believe the b18a is very good for boost...matter of fact i think it's the best b series engine for boost if i read correctly b/c of it's low compression ratio..but if you want to do boost i think you should stick w/ the b18a b/c isn't that the ls motor which yeah is the best for boost. and although it may be auto it can be fast b/c mine is auto and i've beaten stock celica gt's and a gt-s (i don't kno how but i did) and mine is bone stock it should be a good buy for 500 cause i got mine for a grand and it runs real strong at 185k miles

hmm, I might have to look into this then. I want to make sure the tranny is working right before I consider it.

i sold my old Rolla for 300 bucks cauze it had too many problems, usually cheap price means there's some need of fixing up.

if you like restoring cars then go ahead

KounT is right. The B18A is good for boost. As far as LS and RS motors they are the same. The only thing the LS and RS means is the difference in the actual car its self. Such as power windows, air conditioning, and a sun roof. That sort of thing. I think the compression ratio is something like 9:2:1, right around there. Some people say there is a difference between the LS and RS tranny. My car is and RS and i blew the tranny. So i put and LS tranny in and there is no difference. Now i have a B16 engine and tranny. Now there is a difference.
