Turbo Story

I was taking apart this 740 Turbo and I just got to taking the hose between the turbo and intercooler apart and oil drained out! The internal lip on the turbo had an oil puddle on it too! I made nothing of this as the car was worked on by some other people too a few days ago. I proceded to take the intercooler out, laying it upside down carelessly as I began to take the head off of the engine. After a few minutes I take a look at the intercooler and notice more oil coming out of it! I tilted it as to let it all drain out and at least 1/3 of a cup spilled out!

Damn I thought! This thing must be whacked out inside. I grabbed a spray bottle of degreaser, took the nozzle off and gulped it down... shook it hard and spilled it out... repeated and rinsed with water several times until it looked fairly clear. Damn what a pain in the ass! I'm going to degrease and rinse one more time later.

I guess the T3 turbo is shot now? It's not worth rebuilding unless I could just replace 1 seal instead of all the usual crap. What should I do? I think I'm just going to sell it on ebay for $50 along with the rest of the car!

the wastegate is external?? All I would want is the turbo itself, nothing else, i want a cool paperweight, thats all.
