my 97 galant got a check engine light on b4 i got a new battey installed. After i changed battery the check engine light went off. On the same day i went to get my oil changed the light went back on. I thought i needed to flush my radiator since the mechnic said it is recommended. Well today i flush the radiator and got new anti freeze in the system and the check engine light is stillz on....any peeps out there might have a clue???

hello,

what you can do is to run some diagnostics on your car. a check engine light means your ecu detected an error.

there is an ODB terminal underneath the dash (driver side) and its trapezoidal-shaped terminal.

what you do is locate pin#1 and connect it to ground. you will notice that check engine light will start to flash (it consist of long and short pulses).

count the number of long pulses (indicates 1st digit) the count the short pulses (indicates 2nd digit).

if you get two long pulses and 3 short pulses... then your error code is 23. look for the meaning of trouble code (i remember this is crank position sensor error).

you can also get more than one trouble code. different trouble codes are separated by relatively long pause of pulsing before another set of error.

this is more likely the first thing that you should do to pinpoint what exactly your check engine is telling you.
