Why don't you PM Dayna240sx and 94SolGrl and say that. Granted they don't own a Trans Am, but they know a lot about the cars they drive and then some. I'm willing to bet that Dayna knows a hell of a lot more about RX-7's, Nissans, and Subaru's than many of the people here.

My point is, just because one woman doesn't know too much about a vehicle doesn't mean that all women are ignorant when it comes to cars.

About this Olds 403 thing goin' on - my experience (doesn't mean I'm right, just what I've been told) is the 403 was put in 78-79 TA's So the cars could be sold in California. I guess the olds 403 was the biggest engine (People expected BIG numbers in TA's, z28's etc) they could get to pass the CA emissions test, even if it meant gagging the thing with a smog pump, tiny Quadrajet, pinholes for head ports, and drinking straw sized headers with a cat and single exhaust. One can reverse all this, but by the time you're done you could have just swapped in a performance built 455 for the same amount of money and probably pulled an extra 100 HP or so. In the end I agree... the 403 sucked, but it was the EPA's fault, not GM's.

As for you anti-import guys and gals... bless you all! My Bone Stock Non-Supercharged 92 Regal 3.8L has needed new plugs and wires for the last 10,000 miles and I'm STILL blowing away fart-tube rice-wing imports like they're standing still. I think I'd better tune it up though, before they put on some more high performance racing stickers and show up for a rematch.

and that spoiler is adjustable so if they person knows what they are doing than it shouldn't create enough downforce to slow the car down until it stops at 160

Yo, peeps, Let me tell you sumtin. I own 79 formula with a 403 in it. It has 375hp, and a true dual exaust with hookers (pun intended) and it beats anything in her path. 403 were produced to reduce emissions and in their stock apperiance they sucked, but that does not immidiately mean that the engine sucks, same thing with a LO3 305, they were ment for big things.
Pontiac used transams, 'round 79 in a "very stock" apperiance. However, it was justa disguise due to emmissions. If you put a bit of money into your machine you will unleash its true power. Even, without re-building and doing anything to the heads, you could have risen these engines for over 100hp. So saying TA's, or any other birds, are crap, is absurd since they were anything but crap. Let me not mention that Birds are hands down most reliable muscle cars out there. I owned two firebirds and their engines are just built tough. However, you have to mod some stuff, and than you truly have the power of the engine.
