gauge needle lighting

ok a couple weeks ago I installed some reverse gauges. After that I notice that my speedo and gas needle is not lit up like the temp and tach gauge needles. I take it back out and check out all of the lights behind them and they all seem like they are not burnt out or bad. Made sure everything was secured. Still my two needles do not light up. Does anyone know if there is a fuse for those two needles or what makes them light up? Its not a major problem but it would look a lot better if they were lit especially during night. Does anyone know? Thanks

Did you check the bulbs....What car by the way?

It is a 96 rs. I have checked the bulbs.. None of them appear to be blown etc. The bulb behind the mileage is lit. Just not the two needles for the speedo and fuel gauge.

You may want to switch them out even if they look ok. I had a bulb in my ashtray that looked fine but still wouldn't work. I replaced it just for "shits and giggles" and it worked. Other than that I couldn't tell you.

Where can I get these replacement bulbs at? Are they special bulbs or just normal bulbs that i can pick up at advanced auto or any automotive store? If anyone has a diagram of a NT back of the gauges that would be nice. I have seen one for a Turbo model before somewhere but I can't remember where. Thanks

If you take the cluster out you should be able to access the bulbs from the back (at least it is that way on my 97 GS-T. You can always just remove on that you know works and replace it with on of the bulbs that don't work. (this way you can trouble shoot the problem for free, and free is always good!). If that is the problem I got my bulbs at Advanced auto. It is a pretty standard thing (you get the bulb only, not the socket). Be careful though....sometimes those things are a bitch to remove from the socket.

the light travels thru pieces of plastic like fiber optics [sort-of]. one of the pieces could be off. another thing is to try to plug in the cluster with the black face off so you can see internaly and see what the problem would be from the source. :)
