Should i put in new gears in my 99 WS-6? I really have no idea what the actual gear ratios mean and i pretty much have no knowledge when it comes to sizes in numbers. So if anyone would like to teach me the basics about gear ratios i would more than appreciate it. Also, could you tell me what gears i should get to improve 1/4 mile time and 0-60 times? Thx

Gear Ratios. The lower the number, the taller the gear is. The higher the number, the shorter the gear is. Basically, if you go from a 2.73(taller) to a 3.73(shorter) you will get better acceleration.

Most of the time when someone says "I've got gears"..they mean rearend gears...aka...Final Drive Ratio.

Gears for your LS1.

Auto...if you do, go with at least a 373, or if you just like racing your car or its a weekend driver, 410s
6 speed. there isn't much difference between 342s(stock) vs 373s. I would go with 410s.

Depending on how much you race your car, I would save yourself the $$$ and get a 12 bolt with 373s or 410s.
