h22, h23a, or f20b???

i have a 94 accord and about $2500 to spend on a swap. should i get the h22 prelude motor, h23a prelude type-s, or the f20b euro R motor??? i want an all motor setup, and the most complete swap, but i dont know what jdm supplier has the most complete swaps... does anyone have any suggestions on where to order the motor and tranny from? also, my car is automatic now, and the new motor i want to be manual transmission. what other parts will i need besides mounts to get the job done? also, approximately how much would this cost for a proffessional install? thank you.

a H22a is from either a Prelude Type-SH, or S a H23 is from a prelude si and the F20B is from a 90-93 Accord Si-R...just wanted to let u know. IMO go wit the H22A or F20B, forget about the H23A. and btw a auto to manual swap is very hard and costly.

As far as I know there isn't an h23a type s (type s non-vtec) there is the h22a type s from a prelude (20 more hp than regular jdm h22a); I may be wrong (i'm sure someone will correct me if i am). I'd say go with the h22a; I've been told that it will go right in; but don't quote me on that one. I don't know about the cost of getting it installed or what parts you'd need to convert auto to manual tranny. But i do know if you go to the search function of the board and search in the Honda/Acura boards you'll be able to find the info and parts list of that conversion easily. Hope i helped.

Go with the H22 all the way !! if you want a good strong all motor application for your accord. As far as switching from AT to a 5spd that is gonna be a pain in the bootay. Its not nes. hard its just real annoying and very time consuming. You will need shift linkage,gearbox,shifter,new center console for the boot to fit,Clutch slave cylinder, resevoir, all hydrolic clutch tubing, new brake booster, brake/clutch pedal bracket assy.,and id look into getting a autometer tach or something because you are switching motors with diff redlines and from an automatic to a manual. as you can see, its a big pain and there is NO way it can be done with this 2500 limit you have..sorry man

to install...it would depend on the shop..rather it was a pro shop that charges per hr. , or a speed/fabrication shop that charges by job. Myself..i would charge you around 300+ to do it. but then again...thats just me

just get a sport tronic or trip tronic (i get them mixed up) from the prelude type-sh. y waste all u money on an auto to manual swap when the prelude auto isnt that bad anyways.

funds are smaller than i thought so im gonna get boosted :).. and on that topic, will internals from a prelude work with the f22b1 motor as well (pistons, rods)? they are the same displacement (2.2 liter). i was just wondering cuz i cant find performance accord internals ANYWHERE!! lol

Forget the F20B and go with an F20C. =)

Finding performance interals for our generation of Accord is kind of a bitch. Do you read Japanese?

The S-h22a is from a 5th generation Prelude and is only available in Japan. It is massively expensive for being only 20hp more. The h22a1 is a 190hp variety found in 93-96 Preludes. The h22a4 is a 200hp variety found in +97 Preludes. The JDM h22a is also 200hp and is not different from the h22a4 other than the stamping.

You do NOT want the h22a in the type SH. You may consider, however, the S-h22a. The h23a1 is a 160 DOHC non VTEC block found in 92-96 Prelude Si's. You don't want it.

The Sportshift in base and Type SH +97 Preludes aren't that great. Find a JDM manual tranny with LSD. There are sites for the Accord to H22 swap out there, just do a search on google.

The H23A was a motor that came in Accord wagons overseas. It put out 200 hp and some 162 lb/ft of torque. Some complain that they lack the top end power that the H22 delivers.

There is no such thing as a non vtec h23 in Japan. Over there, they are called F22B.

sorry dude but h series internals wont fit in an f series; diff. bore, stroke, rs ratio. if you want to boost it, you could use your stock internals. the c.r. on your motor is 8.8:1, thats fine for boost. but to be safe dont push more than 6-7 psi. and always remember, get it tuned.
also an f20c wont come cheap, yould be lookin at a shit load of money.
if you wanna be different and spend some cash, put in hondas big block, C30A, 230 whp stock.

$500 can do it if he just does the manual conversion. f22b1 tranny will run you $150-200, aint bad, and for the rest, thats why god invented junk yards, i just recently finished a auto to manual conversion on my cb7,
cost: $483, and a shit load of patience. its worth it.
