It would be tough. The 3.5 is actually a little to big, it sits at a slight angle. I am not sure if the trannies are the same.

I wouldn't install a 3.3 instead of a 3.5 because I have a 3.3 in my 96 and I am not very happy with it, that is unless you already have the 3.3 just sitting around

Short answer is No it can't replace the 3.5.
Long answer is yes, but you'll need a whole donor car, or at least the front of a donor car to do it, elctrical differences, different computer, brackets, hoses, radiator size, wiring.... um, this list goes on for a really long time, so take my first answer!
Why you wanna take a better motor and swap it for a piece of sh1t?
