Installing a body kit? Difficulty?

Alright, first of all I want to know how hard is it installing a body kit. Do they just bolt on to the body with mounts on the inner part of the pieces? I'm reading up, and thinking about fiberglassing/bondoing the gaps between each piece. I am ordering the black widow kit for the crx right now, and I just want to know what im in for. How many of you have installed your own, and could ya provide me a pic on your first one or so? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks :)

I installed the Wings West kit on my Civic. It's not difficult if you take your time. Mine needed a bit of trimming with the Dremel before I was happy with the fit.

It attaches with screws & 2-sided tape. If I'm not mistaken, the Black Widow kit is fiberglass - so you'd have to be a little more careful when mounting it. Fiberglass isn't nearly as durable as urethane.

Yep its not that hard but you need to do one thing.

BE PATIENT.

You will need a dreml rotary sander, or like me i used a circular drywall sander. It all works. Basically there will be parts you have to sand down for better fitment. Dont sand down a lot at a time. Sand a little and see how it works and what you have to cut off next.

Well bodykits are supposed to go on the factory mounts but they never will fit. you have the option of screwing through the kit close to the mount and go into it.
For me my bodykit was an inch too large on the sides so i had to screw in on the side, and i put a sticker over it if i ever had to remove the bumper but its really no big deal.

Okay ive been blabbering on and on. Just take your time and be patient. Set aside at least 2-3 hours to do everything properly.

Hmmm I have a dremel thank god (actually 3 of them and another offbrand). Screwing through the kit, meaning from the outside screwing DIRECTLY through the fiberglass and into the body?

yeah, dont do that for your kit, i had to, screw it in on the sides in the tire well, and another good place is if you take off the little black grill thing b/w the hood and bumper, screw it through the metal so when you put the black plastic grill back on you cant see the screws, and it should rest on the bumper beam too, for support.

The only problems u might run into is if you bought a cheap kit. A buddy of mine ownes a performance shop and was tellin me a lot of little companies are poppin up sellin cheap kits that barely fit. I guess its all in the way the fiberglass is handled once it comes out of the mold or some shit like that. I got my BC bumper fairly cheap and actually ordered it thru a high name company. Still had to have it cut and remolded cuz the damn thing didnt' fit right. Good luck tho.. With as many people that actually do it themselves.. im sure its not that difficult
