Help! With Upper A-arm Brackets

I Need To Know If Any One Has Had To Get Those *&^%%ing So Called Punch Outs In The Control Arm Brackets Removed To Get Their Caster And Camber Set?it Is So Stupid That The Factory Left One On Each Bracket That Has To Be Removed If It Ever Needs To Be Adjusted, They Call It Elongating The Holes And The Metal Is 1/8 In. Thick. I Have A 94 2wd Suburban And The Shop Wants 150 Bucks To Do This But Wont Tell Me How They Are Going To Do It. I Have Put In All New Parts On My Front End And Still Have It Torn Apart And I Would Rather Save Some Money On Doing This My Self. Could Someone Please Tell Me The Easiest Way Of Doing This, If You Have Done This Before Or Know How To Do It.

I had this done by dealer at 17000 k miles- just out of warranty for alignment so they charged me. Also, I was told the 2000 year onward have plastic punch outs so its easier. One reason I was told when I asked the same question as to why they put in these slots is that when they ship these on the trucks they ratchet them down so tight it can move these camber cam bolts. So they have the punch out holes there to keep things in place. Some trucks (sounds like yours) are aligned right from factory and stay there for many miles. I'm not sure I buy the excuse but about shipping why else would they bother...conspiracy to make more work for the dealer?

Last summer I had an alignment (it still pulls though) and the guy charged me an extra 60 to "file out the burrs from where they did the knockouts"...

I watched the guy pull it apart. Its not that bad if you got the tools basically an air chisel to punch and air grinder to clean it out. But how you gonna get the alignment back good enough to drive after you've screwed up the camber-caster-toe? THat's the problem. They are all interdependent.

thanks for the reply ketch. i went out on easter to figure out how to get them out, i decided to use a hammer and chisel and guess what? they damn near fell out, i only hit each one twice. they came out clean and its pretty simple once its torn apart. i dont think its worth the 150 bucks they wanted i guess its for the labor! BTW i put a vertical mark on each adjustment washer to line it back close to where it was and it will work to get it to an alignment shop.
