Alright, I'm looking into buying my first car. I want a car that is reliable, comfortable, looks pretty good, is safe, has some speed/acceleration to it, etc. etc., and is under or equal to about $8000. I've been doing some research on the Honda Civics and the Mitsubishi Eclipses, and recently the Hyundai Tiburon...

So far, the one I'm leaning on is the Hyundai Tiburon from what I've heard on here so far. I could get a 99-01 5spd. for about $8000, and they're reliable/fast/pretty fuel efficient, etc. etc.

Of the following, which would be the best first car to have in terms of all the variables of looking when buying a car: RX-7, Integra, Prelude, or Tiburon?

Tiburon is crap IMO, if you want a really nice sports car that has a lot of aftermarket support, is easy to repair and reliable, go with the integra or the prelude.

the tiburon is starting to get a good name and i starting to get a big aftermarket. i assume you are looking at a first-gen rx-7 since you only have 8k to spend, so i would say that the tiburon is the best out of those four.

Or how about a Toyota Celica? I've heard good things about them, too.

Celica's are very nice cars, and are fun to drive. A little underpowered is what I have heard, but it is all what you think about the cars. Go out and test drive em all.

as a first car celica's are alrite (although personally i'm not too fond of them) not that theres anyting really wrong with em, just that there're better value for muny buys than that...so,later on you can look towards something better...i wud lean more towards an older model integra or prelude as a 1st car if i had a choice..more becoz of reliablility, efficiency and aftersales support reasons....
rx7 is a great car, but as a 1st car i duno if it's the wisest choice, coz there's alot more involved in owning and caring for a performance vehicle like that one, and they can be more truble than they;re worth if you aren't experienced with em...

i personally wouldn't get a celica unless you are a girl, because most people (as myself does) sees the celica is a girly car. for example, there is this sophmore in my school that just got a bright red 2003 celica gt-s and he thought everybody would think he was cool, but most people made fun of him for having a girls car. hahaha.

i think the integra or the prelude would be the best choice, and when were korean cars reliable? u gotta think, hyundai has been in the US since 1984, and hyundai is the parent company of kia, which has only been here since 1994, and you still dont see that many kia/hyundai cars on the road, the tiburon maybe a lil speedy at what.. 170hp? or so but the new celica is the same thing, look from a 97+ prelude, don't get the SH, because of some attc or some kinda thingy that makes the SH not good, for an integra $8000 could find you anything, i think with that you might be able to get a GSR, i wouldn't get a celica, because seriously its a girls car, the only guy i know that drives one, got it because he works at a toyota dealer, and he fixed that car up like mad, system, rims, kit, HID, like the WORKS for that car.. if u dont go all out like him.. dont get it

Really? The only car that screams 'girly' for me is the mazda miata.

Toyota Celica is the only car that makes me turn my head in admiration. I want one. And I'm far from girly.

when there is a thread on af about celica's, most people call them girly. and a lot of people that i talk to call them girly. because it just seems like a girls-fast car.
