motor swap/chang

I have a 1990 grand prix 3.1l, 300,000km, the motor seen better days, its starting to knock tranny slipping alll the good stuff, i want to chang it for another motor, but i want bigger and better. can a 3.4l 3.8l fit in, or will i have to settle with a 3.1l again. Also i need help changing this motor what to take off and what not too, is there a easy way?, i was thinking about dropping the whole sub-frame down, then i would change the struts too, but maybe thats a bad idea? Have any idea's it would be greatly apprciated. I'm not used to changing these king of motors, i'm the v8 type of guy. thx
