Death

What do you think happens when you die. Personally, it scares me like the enternity thing. Imagine being stuck in the ground and not knowing it. Its hard to articulate, but when I wake up, I dont remember going to sleep, but I know I fell asleep. It scares me that one day Ill die and not even know it. Its weird, I had one of those "existence" moments awhile ago(you know, where you think "wow..do I really exist etc.) and the subject of death appeared in my mind and tis been bugging me.

Meh. I choose not to worry about it. I mean, it's going to happen sooner or later, and there's no way to stop it, so why be afraid?

Ah, I used to cry myself to sleep (like when I was 9) about being afraid of dying. I just don't worry about anymore...that much. Just try to get the shit you need done in this life and have no regrets.

Yeah, don't worry about it, it's like when you're asleep, you have no idea you're asleep. You're not going to know you're dead, so you're not going to be bothered by the fact. And if there is an afterlife, then you'll probably be happy you died.

Everything is made up of part of everything else.
Dying just returns you to your place of origin the Earth.
And since time is eternal and you had to of come from somewhere. There is no reason why you couldn't come back in some way. You are here even if you arn't.
There is no need to fear death.
It cannot be avoided.
It is only another step.
Why would you want to live forever anyways?

Being a Christian I have a different take on death than some of you may. As Boss San said it is only another step. It is a step into the unknown which is sometimes a little scarry but I know it will be better after that first scarry step. I fear getting old far more than death.

I fear getting old far more than death.
Agreed.
Not to quote you completely out of context DGB, but the best we can hope for is a quick death at a ripe old age after a lifetime of good health.
After seeing my in laws suffer from very unpleasant dabilitating illnesses, I fear terminal disease more than death.

I agree to an extent. I really fear ending up like my grandma and not being able to talk to walk or do anything and having to end up in a nursing home. My grandmas been that way for 10 years this year and I know when she passes I'm not going to be sad at all b/c she died a long time ago to me. I hate going to see her at the 'home'. It gets me really depressed and I would prefer not to go. But do so b/c my mom see's her once sometimes twice a week and I see her every so often.

My grandpa had Alzheimers, and it was horrible. He was always so active and stuff, he would go drive cars, or walk or run and then he just became a baby again. I hated visiting him but I went anyways.

How old were you and how long did you go through it? I've been dealing with this since I was 12 years old. I've seen so many people pass away that I have almost no emotion at anyones death.

I had alot of people pass away from age 6 untill 12 so death doesnt impact me much unless its someone close.

Oh, about old age, if I ever have a debilitating disease, I want to be hurled out of an airplane then hit with a ground-to-air missle midair.

I percieve death different than most for 2 reasons. I believe in God and heaven so I don't have a fear of dying for the most part. The other part is that I am a medic and see people die all of the time. Usually after someone dies (at work) I just go about my business, like eat lunch or something like nothing even happened. But this also makes me scared because of people that I have seen really messed up. Like being shot, stabbed, accidents. Even if I don't know them kids are really difficult though. Adults don't bother me, unless I knew them.

I always have that "death/life moment" that you were talking about in the first post. Most of the time, they happen when I am bored in class, and feel like it's a waste of my time to be there. I come up with extravagent theories about why we are here in this rat race. I often wonder if people in ancient times committed suicide just from the sheer curiosity of what happens afterward.
I think the meaning of life is to create a meaning to life. Know what I mean?

Sleeping while piss drunk is supposed to be as close to death without actually being dead.
Ever tried that?:puke:
The human brain funtions for something like thirty hours after "death."
I really wonder what's going on in the mind while it sort of fades away and finally stops functioning. :uhoh:

I've pretty much stopped worrying about death. I've come to the point where I perceive life as a whole mess of hassles, obligations, etc. You spend most of your time dealing with bullshit, taking of business, etc. so that you can hopefully earn yourself just a small piece of happiness for when you don't have to deal with crap. (And I know that I live an enjoyable, happy, and to some extent "charmed" life.) Be afraid of losing that? NO. Not to sound suicidal, but death just provides a permanent escape from all the bullshit. IMO, what's not to like, and in fact welcome, about that?

do not blame your troubles on god. even if you believe in him, you then believe that he gave you free will and the power to control your life. use it.

I'm a Christian and I'm not insulted. I don't think God has a problem with you getting angry with him either.
As long as you aren't blaming him for things you control and as long as you aren't just using him as a scape goat.
Good luck with the kart racing. If you want it bad enough I'm sure eventually you will get it. As for the exams...possibly counseling for stress managment.

Death
Im not ready for it, but Im not afraid.
Im not wishing for it, but it will appear.
When it appears, no sense of worrying.
The amount of time it took to type this, is the amount of time I spent thinking about what or where or when it may or may not happen today.
Every person has their own idea what happens.
I have known many who have died or watched die. The end result is they dont wake up. You Just have to believe where ever they are or where ever you may go or what happens, they will be home.

Mr. Samuel Clemens (a.k.a. Mark Twain) was once asked whether he feared death. He said that he did not, in view of the fact that he had been dead for billions and billions of years before he was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.

So true, even though the Mark Twain stuff is a buncha racist crap.
Is the time before you are born any different from the time after you die.
Doesn't seem that different.
You're not here, you're here, you're gone again. You will come back in a different age and a different form.
