We talked about this over in the 3000GT area of the forum. Its conceivable, but unlikely to go that fast in a stock TT.

I think the fastest a stock 3S TT has gone was 165-170.

my brother has been to 160 on his stock tt at which point he said it cuts off so maybe with a different pcu it could get 180 or at least 170?

You should remember that most spedos aren't all that accurate after you get into the 120+ mph range.

I had a non-turbo and was up to 145. I think that was all she had and I was going downhill, so thats kinda chrating. We raced a VR-4 in my friend's Trans-Am. We were goin 165 and he was keeping up.

145?! In a non-turbo, going downhill or not with the wind at your back, thats unbeleavably fast. A SOHC only had 164 HP, so i am assuming you had at least an R/T, but still @ 222 HP with a car that weighs over 3000lbs thats kinda drastic unless you had a ton of mods on it.

145 isn't inconceivable in a r/t. I had a 130hp accord up to 128. It will take you quite awhile to get there, but I would think it's possible. HP and weight aren't everything...gearing is important in top end.

Gearing is one of the things i meant by "mods", a stock r/t going 145 is not gonna happen, unless your going downhill for about 5 minutes to pick up the speed. On the other hand, I haven't seen a Honda weigh over 3000lbs, maybe they have them i dunno much about Honda's, but he never mentioned which "trimline" he had. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and said he had an r/t, if he had a stock SOHC 3.0 baseline, i wouldn't have even wasted my time to reply.

I'm not bullshittin. I was goin aboit 135 at the top of the hill, and by the time I got to the bottom about a half mile later, I was goin 145. Why is that so hard to believe? The motor pushes 222HP. The only thing I did to it was put a high flow exhaust and a K&N. Hell, one of my friends with a 5.0 mustang told me I was full of it too, Untill he went for a ride with me. I took it to about 135 on flat ground with like 4 people in the car. Of course that was when I was young and stupid and thought I was Mario Andretti. I wont go that fast anymore.

wieght has very little to do with top speed of a car. The only part that plays is putting strain on the driveline components and causing friction, which would actually fall under drivetrain loss. Top speed is compleatly dependent on HP and drag.
if you think 145 in a dohc non turbo isnt posible why dont you look up the factory stats.

My fastest was 170 in a supercharged mercedes on the autobahn (im not from Germany so it was serious thrill...I will also say that I did it on a serious downhill...wat was scary was that there were 2 ferrari's and an S4 that flew by me when I was almost at that speed...I was amazed

It is possible to hit 145 in a non tt stealth. I had my r/t going 149/150. It's pretty much stock, but I did replace a few things that I doubt would increase or help with the hp. I replaced the clutch, brand new with new front axles. But honestly, i did hit close to 150.

i got my sohc up to 130 with some room to push. i dont think it would go much past 140. now....a dohc...i would assume redlining at 7k instead of 6k and the added hp would do 150 solid. just my 2 cents

Had a Probe GT (164 hp 173 lb-tq ??) up to 140 numerous times...And sorry to say there was nothing else left...so with 222 hp, good dynamics, it's very conceivable. I beat a sohc a few times on highway rolls...same road I topped out on.

ive beat a couple probe gt's but not at higher speeds. mostly just light to light stuff. its pretty much a drivers race. the probe prolly weighs less but a good driver can beat it.doesnt matter tho...after the winter...ill be smokin cars that are a good match now. single turbo here i comeeeeeeeee :D

i have a base model....oh yeah the big bad sohc that all 3/s owners love!
although...the sohc has 8.9:1 compression so when i put the turbo on i should be able to run a decent amount of boost safely. so i guess there is atleast 1 advantage to the sohc n/a :D

It is very possible to hit 145 in a N/A gt or stealth. I was racing a co-worker in heavy traffic and hit 145. I actually didn't know until afterwords because my tranny was so f*^$ed up that it was tearing apart my speed sensor. I didn't have a speedomiter but I was riding right in front of him and he said we were doing 145. And I am guessing on a straightaway I could have gotten more. And that was in a 92' stealth es (non turbo) with 190k miles and a bad tranny. It is more than possible.
