Under ratedness

Just how underrated is an SVT Cobra and mustang mach 1? I keep hearing that they are, and I get no figures in return. Some dyno'd whp? Some dyno sheets and hp at the flywheel? Percentage increase over stock figures? HELP!

naw, i really don't think they are under rated. hell, barly any new cars are because of all the crazy strict laws against that kind of stuff now.

hehe back in the 60s though.. hahah ford rated the 64 427 at 435 hp.. on the dyno it was running at 635+hp

i think they have a wee bit of underrating like 15-20 ponies. A few cars have been underrated big now adays too. Like didn't the Ford GT get rated at 500hp crank and push over 560 to the wheels? Umm the Neon SRT4 rated like 220 and some push nearly 240 to wheels.

i didn't hear about the gt pushing over 560, if so then i retract my comment about new cars not being really under rated. i thought that the SRT4 were rated at 235 though, i dunno. i hate neons so i'm not gonna go look. good info though.

yeah there are many new cars that are underrated. The skyline GTR's, Toyota Supras and LS1 equipped Chevy camaro SS's to name a few. the skylines and supras for instance were underrated to comply with japanese rules and regulations of producing cars, whereas the Chevy with the Camaro SS's with LS1's are said to have made a few odd factory freaks pushing up to 340hp at the wheels instead of the claimed factory 320hp.

I saw a dyno vid from my frend and the SVT Cobra had 386whp on tap! If im comparing that to the stock figure, that is 99% tranny eficiency! Then my guess is the flywheel hp is much higher than 400, as a mustang GT with 260 on flywheel only puts around 200 or so to the wheels.
