I just can't stop admiring your clean building style, everything looks so faultless and the details look just right :sunglasse The dash is amazing and the heat discolouration really makes the exhaust look hot :biggrin:

I think the big red container is for spares, maybe it was in the rules in 1994 that you had to carry the spare turbo in the car. I think there was a similar case displayed in a rally TV program when Kristian Sohlberg of the Mitsubishi team was reviewing his car and talked how they have to carry some parts in the car because of the upcoming regulations or something.

Thanks for the comments Mikko, although IMHO you are a better builder than me! The Peugot 205 you've entered in the Rallycar comp is stunning! I hope I can get this Escort finished and provide you with some competition in the class. If the Pug is considered Super Detailed then the Escort is probably as well (what do you reckon Zeljko?). Your Pug should be the favourite to win :)

I think if you finish it on time, it will goes with Miko's.
Also one diorama waiting to be added to that category too. Dioramas will go there because have many details too.

Here is another boring pic of the bodyshell, this time with the window rubbers done. Almost two hours of masking was required before spraying! Looks okay in this pic but for all that masking effort the result is a bit rough in spots and will need considerable tidying up with a brush and toothpick.

Bottom of the chassis is now pretty much finished, not happy with the mud on the wheels so will revisit them. I covered the protective plates in S27 Kevlar decal, although after weathering it is difficult to see the patern, it's completely invisible in this pic.

Also spent more time than I can afford making a tiny rachet handle for the spare wheel tie down. It is made from 2mm rod and .3mm styrene sheet sanded down to way, way thinner with a brass rivet throught the middle. There was originaly a PE nut on one side but it fell off, and I couldn't be bothered doing it again! I wonder why nobody makes a PE set of these rachet thingies? Would have saved heaps of precious time. Other things visible in the second pic are the seat rails, painted metallic blue, start of some looming, CFed spare wheel cradle and the wire handle on the metallic red case.

Thanks Nuno. Here is the interior finished. I was tempted to add more stuff, radio, intercom cables, wire to the roof antenna, pacenotes. But since I'm trying to get this finished by Thursday it was time to call enough. I did add a fuel filler pipe on the left hand side of the fuel tank.

How did you make the bracket holding the fuel filler?

Thanks Ray, did you notice I stole your technique of using thin strips of tape to hold the loom in place? The bracket is made from .3mm styrene sheet. I drilled a hole then trimmed and sanded it to shape.

Yeah 1/43rd has everything, Seb! Too bad I started out in 1/24th - then again I don't know if I could handle working with pieces that tiny.

Here is the final progress pic of the car, now oh so close to finished. All that remains to be done is a general tidy up and fit all the remaining pieces in the picture. I can safely say that barring any unforseen acts-of-god I will make the deadline for the BMOM Rallycar comp :) Unfortunately I won't have time to take any good, natural light photos, so will have to stick with interior flourescent or flash photography in the short term.

The interior is incredible! I really like the whole set up around the spare tire, with the cradle and the tie downs... Where did you get that photoetch crank thing? In fact, I'm curious about where you get all your detail parts, and decals. Are they kit provided or do your source them elsewhere? This model is immaculate, One of the best detail jobs I've seen anywhere.

Edit: I realized I missed a page of the thread, and found out about the ratchet. But I am still curious about the other interior bits, like the decal on the fuel filler, fire extinguisher, that little board/label in the window attached to the roll cage (what is that?) etc....

Mikko, I think you are partly right, the winner of the superdetailed category could well will be a 1000 Lakes winning car, but from 20 rather than 10 years ago! Did I miss it or have you not posted pics of the 205T16 on this forum?

Willmo, the details are a combination of kit, scratchbuilt (dash switches, tiedown ratchet, fuel filler) or aftermarket (Renaissance bonnet pins, Modeller's seatbelt hardware, M&A antenna base). Good places to get that kind of stuff is MediaMix Hobby, Rainbow 10 and the well-known HobbyLink Japan.

Decals are from the kit, LauBak and Museum Collection 1994 1000 Lakes sheets, as well as the spares box and some other extras like white decal behind the XEROX logo (to stop the blue/white division showing through). Extinguisher labels are from the remains of a Tamiya Impreza kitbashed a while ago. Decal on the fuel filler is from a Colorado-Carpena sheet of engine markings, available through MediaMix.

The label on the rollcage is a crew/car rally identification plate. Decal is from the kit, applied to a piece of plastic card and glued in place. Because the decal is from the Monte kit it is a bit different to the 1000 Lakes ident plate, the latter was larger and bluer.

Something even worse happened to my Pug 99 before our nationals, if you remember. But I had one week to it and I manahed to make it as new 01 version.

Oh well I thought it is something worse, you can't blame children for this, they simply adore forbiden things. But I think you will be able to fix it (super glue do fantastic things :evillol: ). I am only sorry that you want be in contest (or maybe you will, if you took some finished car pics :smile: )
My kid is still very small but I am shore that he will "kill" some of my models to, but that's life. (and life sucks :smile: )

Oh my... You have my sympathy :crying: I hope you can fix it for the 4th Rally car competition. The interior and wheels look like they can be fixed reasonably easily, I hope the body isn't too damaged.

Sorry to see that. It was coming along so nice.

I had to take a break from modelling when my sons were that age. I came home to a box of 5 F1 cars in various stages of trauma when they were about that age.

It looks fairly repairable though.

I feel so sorry for you, not to rub it in but it was finished for cripes sakes! My comiserations, I hope this never happens to me!

Yikes! There's a lot proken, but none of it looks beyond repair... After the initial shock wears off we can assess damage better.... That's really too bad, this was a great build, just absolutely awesome. I can't imagine you having any trouble getting it back together, not with the level of skill you were exhibiting with the original build.

Fortunately he only got hold of the chassis, left the body alone, he was interested in the wheels more than anything. It should be mostly recoverable but a lot of work and I don’t have the heart to even look it right now. I've found all the pieces, none will need to ‘pass through’ :eek: (that's a nasty thought p9o1r1sche). There are lots of chips, scratches and cracks so even if I fix the obvious breakages it will never be the same. I did take some photos of the chassis for the Rallycar comp just before the meltdown so that is lucky I suppose.

Life does indeed suck at the moment, I’d been operating on only 3-4 hours of sleep a night for the last week and a half to get it finished by today. Only had a couple of hours to go… :bloated:

Zeljko – I remember your mishap with the Pug, you ended up winning the National title with the rebuilt model didn’t you?

well this i guess is one of the reasons i dont want kids when i am older! LOL, i have a little sister(2) and a brother (7) but i do all my work in the shop, and so i am lucky they cant get ahold of it!

Know you you feel with the finger, was cutting decals with a brand new blade last week when I knocked it off the table. Reacion was to close my legs to catch it, as I thought it was a model part. Result - brand new No. 11 blade stuck straight into my thigh!
