Love my truck hate the trans. besides the mushy shifts when I start out on a cold morning you got to get up to 45 mph before it shifts into 3rd. But once it shifts the first time then its ok till the next cold morning. The Dodge Techs ? say no light no problem. But they can flush it, scan it, maybe put a seal in it, or would I like to trade But all they can be sure of is to lighten my bank acc. $300 or $400

I don't know how many miles your ram has on it but don't forget to change the oil and filter in the transmission. Your filter may be partially restricted.

What year is this truck? What trans?
if it's an older '60-93 904 or 727, you need to change the filter and the fluid, and check the trans cooler in the radiator. if its partially clogged, a cold morning will almost certainly lower the overall hydraulic pressure and cause your problem.

If it's 94-up, don't discount the older problem, but it may need to be reprogramed; simply disconnect your battery for 10 minutes and see if the symptoms change (and reprogram your radio). If the symptoms change or go away, then have the dealer reprogram the trans, or look online try allpar.com for the DIY method, which doesn't always work out completely.

no light, no problem? no way! the shifting error you're having won't show up on the diagnostic machines.

Good luck,
