Hi guys,
I don't post here much But I lurk quite a bit, anyway:
I am looking into getting my first car soon and I think I am limiting myself to much in my decisons. RIght now I am looking pretty much exclusively at a 2005 Mustang GT (I've got a deal worked out where I don't have to pay my insurance And I have 200 dollars of easy income a week). The only thing is I know there are a lot of other good cars out there! I was hoping tyhat you guys could point me out some good ones to look into.
I have a few criteria through
-Strong six, v8 or turbo 4
-Preferably coupe or rally style sedan.
-Nice interior
-Nice exterior
-decent aftermarket
-Preferably Rwd or Awd, If the rest of the car is great though fwd may be acceptable.
I am thinking about the rsx-s but seeing as I am 5'11 185 lbs it might look a little awkward.
Thanks for the help guys.

Id look into a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am.I myself would buy a black one.Its got a very poweful V8 LS1 that runs 13s in the 1/4.Its rear wheel drive. Its a 2 door and the styleing is amazing inside and out in my opinion. And theres load of aftermarket parts for these cars. That would be my first pick. And you can find one with low mileage for a good price.I say 2002 because thats the last year they were produced.

i say get a nissan 300zx tt. the engine can handle 500 hp on stock internals and you can find a really good one for 15-20k. it will run high 13s stock. and the 300zx has a huge aftermarket with lots of turbo upgrades.

What are you planning on doing with the car? Do you just need a sporty school car, or a car that you will be drag/street racing or auto crossing/road racing? An Evo or WRX STI are difinitely good at all types of racing, but an f-body might be a bit more practicle. Another car to look into are the Diamond Star cars (DSM) such as the Plymouth Laser, Eagle Talon, and Mitsubishi Eclipse. You could get a real nice Eclipse GSX for 12,000. Not to mention their abundance of aftermarket parts. Hope this helps. :)

I'd say if you have the 30k...STi or Evo
If you have 25k or less...might want a Cooper S, SRT 4, Mazdaspeed Miata or Protege

You may not want to here this, but a real good car to get if you want to learn about mechanics and driving and thats f'ing cheap to buy, mod, and repair, is an early model Honda Civic like a CRX or an Eg Civic (92-95). :2cents:

EG Civic Manual, perfct learners car. They're fun to rive, excellent to learn to drive properly in and economical and easy on the wallet. Don't buy anything overly expensive first up or overly quick, you don't know how to drive yet, in spite of what you may think.

I pretty much want something
:good looking
:fast enough
:Reasonably new
:reasonably Safe
I don't plan on racing this car on the streets. We have infineon Raceay for a reason
Evo and the Sti are both nice cars. I might look into buying a used evo. THe Sti's styling doesnt apeal to me as much as the evo.
Ls1's are great and it was the car I wanted for a loooong time. Red Ws6 2002 Cale interior 6spd to be exact. But the interior is just horribly bad.
300zx is another one I have had my eye on. However there is just something about it I don't like.
DSM's are great little cars but the amount of riced out ones I see every day killed any desire I have for them.
I already have a slow beater car. 1984 Trans Am 5.0 HO. It has survived numerous crashes.:icon16:
Thanks for all your help. I'm looking at the Ls1 again now. The only thing I dont like is that center console. But that can be fixed with a new Head unit.

hows a V8 f-body more 'practicle' than a 4cyl sedan?
you don't like the trans am interior? i thought it was great..i love the seats. but yeah if I had the money I'd have one of those. but uh...how the hell are you getting a 25-30K car as your first car?

what are you thinking dud the sti kills the evo in any run u an think of and the 05 stis come with a radio( finaly) and u should never even worry about pulling up next to one on the road cuz the a sti is limited production( 3800 made) AND A EVO IS MADE ABOUT A 1:10 RATION (38,000) k STI it is

That 2005 Mustang GT is lookin pretty awesome. $24,000 for a 300bhp rwd car, with styling that I admit to liking. For the price difference between a stock 05' Stang and an Evo VIII (~$4,000) I bet you could make the Stang significantly stronger and faster.
The Evo VIII handles amazingly well, as does the STi. Only problem I see is price.
Other options that I see in this category are the 350z or a used E36 M3

no the ipicked up a '05 sti a couple days ago and the awd kicks ass and the rear wheel mustang stands no chance ( EVEN THOUGH THE LOOKS ARE KILLER) the rwd can NEVER take a AWD

wow. i wish i could ask my dad to buy me a $30k car. and uh..i think the mustang vs sti would be all on the driver. it's tricky launching AWD. the mustang has 300rwhp exactly how much whp does the STI have?

intake and exhaust does not add 20-30hp. maybe 10hp together. and i don't think that voids your warranty.

It does on a turbo car (if its a full exhaust, not just a rear section). About the F body being more practical, I'm just sayin that a NA RWD car has less parts to brake then a Turbo AWD car. And considering that kids tend to rag out their first car, you dont want to be paying for a transfer case or a turbine.

where did you get the parts installed? i've been to 483574385 dealers looking at cars and i've asked questions about if i modify them does it void the warrantee and i always get the same answer that minor mods like intake and exhaust don't void the warrantee. if they're brand new parts and professionally installed they should not void your warranty..i'd check more into that because i think you may be getting screwed over. you just bought a brand new car...and got your warranty void a few days later, aren't you the least bit concerned that you're being ripped off?

i would say get a 99 3000gt VR4 a little heavy but has great looks and its a unique car. all the other cars they have listed are great cars but you have to give credit to such a beautiful and fast car. this car is in the 300zxtt and supra league. so give it some thought.
