Getting my car painted

Finally the time has come. My car will not be mismatched anymore!!! I just picked up my paint today. It will go to the shop tomorrow morning, 6am. Quick question though, should or shouldn't I paint the moldings, mirrors, door handles?? I am still trying to decide. I am going back to the original color. Saxony Blue Metallic. How hard will it be to tape off the bumper area (molding)??

I say leave it black...unless you're gonna take teh time to do it right and use a flex additive and such.. you dont want it cracking an chipping :(

I say definitely paint the door handles and mirrors (leave the black window trim between the front and rear side windows black though), and the bumpers too (only if you do it right like Marked said though).

Personally, I would leave the rubber moldings black though.

It's my boyfriends brother thats painting it. He paints cars for a living and has at least 30yrs exp.(BF is the youngest of 15 kids) He said that an additive had to be added to keep the bumpers from cracking/chipping. So I do trust that he will do it correctly. It is just me not knowing what I want to do.

Thanks for your opinions though. 2 for black moldings. Anymore sugg.???

i just painted my door handles myself and i like it, it looks a lot better now cause they sorta look outta place since my car is white, personally i like the mouldings black, put some back in black on them after you get it painted, as for the mirrors i'm with ci5ic on that one.

Either way, if you paint them, make sure they dont peel or crack, if you dont, shine em up, worst thing to have is nice paint on a car and have the dull, faded mouldings stickin out like an eyesore.

I painted mine and I think they look way better - they are easier to keep shiny, they don't fade, and they match and blend better with the car.

why not look at shaving the molding on the doors and bumpers

It has already been to the body shop. I wanted to shave the emblems, but I forgot to tell my bodyman. It is getting painted now. I don't want them shaved. I still want to get another wings west kit one day. Maybe it will fit right this time.
