iVTEC & VTEC

What is the difference if VTEC and iVTEC?

iVTEC is the same as VTEC, except that it adds variable intake cam to help keep torque at a plateau throughout the rpm range

ivtec because of the flatter power curve with more torque down low,but it all depends on what are your intention for the car:cool:

So I'm going for perfermace/race kind of car so I go with iVTEC.:bloated:

i personally like E-VTEC which came on 92-95 civic cx's. It keeps a intaKe valve closed at low rpms to save gas. GREAT FOR PERFORMANCE! jk :jump:. not many people know about that one

one of the things ive heard about the ivtecs is that vtec is not as noticable. in a regular vtec engine it kicks in at a certain rpm and the the 3rd cam lobe is activated and the hp increase and engine sounds are completely different. in the ivtec, since it is engages earlier on and power is more evenly distributed through the entire band it means the car has a more normal feel to it.

hi was just wondering if anyone knows the difference from the two engines.

Listed on the website for the new stream absolute, it has CVT and Ivtec-i engine but on mine only Ivtec and no CVT.
