My 1994 cavalier 2.2 automatic, runs great but when i stop at a stop sign it vibrates badly. Doesn't do it when in park or it neutral.
Any ideas ?

does it go away if you give it just a little bit of gas while holding the brake down? if so the throttle body and idle air motor probably have deposits. a good cleaning with carb cleaner and a toothbrush should fix you up. dissconnect the battery before you clean it and take it for a good drive(5 miles or so) after your done to relearn the computer.

Mine does the same thing I am pretty sure it is a manifold leak because when I turn the car off I can hear the compression go down. Plus I mite have a blown gasket because oil blows out my manifold all over the engine. Plus when I turn the heat on I can smell oil for like twelve minutes. If anyone has any other ideas please help. It shakes in every gear but nuetral or park.

Hmm...sounds like a secondary ignition breakdown.
A load on the engine (such as putting the car in gear(automatic) will make an already occurring misfire feel even worse.
When's the last time you guys changed plugs and wires? Might's well start with the cheap stuff first.
What engines we talkin' about?

Hi guys and gals. I'm a new guy in the forum. I looked at many forums on the web and this seems to be DA ONE so i registered. The reason i joined your discussion is because i have the same problem with my Sunfire 93 auto, 2.0.Engine runs great gas and performance are acceptable for it's 158.000 KM but the vibration that davidhc was talking about is really upsetting.I have taken care of tat cae like a baby oil,Timing belt and water pump changed, Transmission kit changed O2 sensor, Wires and Convertor( to pass emission test) and still the same problem. It seems to be a little smother when driven for at least 20 KM of highway.
I would appreciate any sugestions aswell.THX

Check your motor mounts. After nearly 18 months, my guess is that they have either fixed it by now or have stopped worrying about it.
What's up with the rash of ancient threads being bumped lately...

The above statements are probably right, but I'd like to also suggest the problem could be as simple as your ABS. (Anti-Lock Brake System)
They have a tendency to vibrate a little when you reverse too.
Hope you get things sorted out.
