Lex muscle vs Ford muscle

Last night I was at a red light on PCH near the Newport/ Irvine area. So I'm waiting for the light to turn green and this punk surfer boy pulls up in his newer style Mustang GT or Mach One. I could not tell b/c it was dark. So he revs at me and I was like whatever. I really don't like racing my GS430, but when push comes to shove my car can hold its own. So I look over and surfer boy and his friend were laughing. That pissed me off so the race was on. Light turns green we both floor it... i get a good jump and he is at my rear door. By the time the race ended which was 2 lights down he never got passed my passenger door. So he makes a right turn chirpping his tires not wanting to look over at me. What a loser. Why would he want to race a lexus in the first place? Well even though I didn't win by much I showed that punk a$$. Any way just wanted to share.

Congrads on the win. How fast is your car supposed to run in the 1/4? My friends newer GT runs consistant 13.80's with just an x-pipe. Anyway good kill on the 'Stang.

Thanks. GS430's run low 14's... I think Road and Track clocked one at 13.9. The 4.3L V8 produces 300hp and 325tq. When I drive my 95 Teg it's like night and day when you compare the two. Having a lot of tq is nice. It gets old always having to down shift on the teg... but it does get me good gas milage.

haha... yup I know there are some quick mustangs out there, but I don't think I can hear any of them if my windows are up. Lexus sure knows how to sound proof their cars :P

You should look into a used one and slap a turbo on. A lot of IS 300 owners are installing turbos and putting down some nice numbers.

Yea if I can find any affordable used ones in my area. There rare cars in the are of Ontario I'm in.

well considering you posted today saying the race happend yesterday, and he posted yesterday saying the race happened the day before that, chances are it's not the same guy.

I don't know about putting a turbo on that lexus though. A 4.3l V8 pushing out over 300 hp, sounds to me like it has high compression pistons. I'm just guessing though I don't know jack about lexus.

A mercury zephyr is an old school luxury coupe build in the 1930's.....pretty sharp looking, a 1937 zephyr sold at the barrett-jackson auction for 400k.

those cars must not be very good freeway racers, i say that cause i beat 2 of those cars on the freeway when i was stock and once i let him take off first and then caught him and passed him. we both have 300hp and he weighs less than me, but on the freeway i was just pulling on him(btw he was a cool guy, gave me a thumbs up) could it be a the less powerful verion of it, do they have those?

GS400 = previous years, same body, 290HP, and even lesser TQ. Same auto tranny, so your wins are feasible against this car.

GS300 = previous, and current years. Same inline-6 as the IS300 has, in a MUCH heavier body. Not too shabby, but my stock SE-R will beat this car.

I was talking about a turbo on the IS 300 which has the same motor as the Supra. Actually there are a few GS430's with twin turbos pushing 400+hp over at clublexus.com. They did bring the compression down plus other things to make the car a beast.

Like Carrnutt said you could have raced an GS300 or 400. If you raced a GS300 (looks exactly like the 400/430) you will kill it. They only have 225hp/220tq. The GS is not really built to race. How much does the VR4 weigh? My GS430 weighs 3,715lb... not exactly the ideal weight to race but they can hold their own even when they are stock.

My friend has a GS400 with Greddy(I think) mufflers and it sounds pretty good. They're pretty big cans too!

yup those lexus's can be made into all out beasts. a friend of mine has a lexus GS300 with the 2JZGTE twin turbo engine. he's got upgraded everything and he's pushing close to 450hp. needless to say he rips my camaro up easily :p all this power with the luxury of a lexus, how can you go wrong :biggrin:

Wow... 80lbs heavier. I knew 3000GT's were heavy but I didn't think they weighed more than my GS. What makes them so heavy? I have a new found respect for the VR4... thank goodness they are turboed.

On the VR4 at least, the extra heft comes from the AWD....I'm not too sure about the N/A versions.
