regular masking tape

I was wondering if you can use regular masking tape to do the window lines. I have tamiya but its too skinny for me to spray paint it. So if i used regular masking tape would it work better?

my advise dont use spray paint for window trims. go buy a jar of paint or even a paint pen shall work. and then use tamyia tape it shouldnt take much

do not use regular masking tape b/c it most definately will pull the paint right off the car. you can buy thicker tamiya masking tape.
Or go to walmart and buy the blue painters tape that is less tacky. Regular masking tape is too sticky, where it won't pull up paint it will leave a sticky mess.

DEFINATLY DO NOT USE REGULAR MASKING TAPE!!!! It will surely take your paint off. I use the tamiya masking tape all the time to spray paint window paints and I never have problems. You just cannot use wet coats otherwise you will get leaks and those are never good. Multiple mist coats will give you a good trim.

Regular masking tape will not rip off ur paint but it WILL leak. Be on the safe side and use tamiya masking tape.

I too have seen many paint jobs ripped off by masking tape, it also bleeds very very bad. If you mask near an edge or sharp line in the car where the paint is the thinnest it will pull up like it's wallpaper.

either way don't use it!! there are many other options. you could do it like they do real cars and line the edge of paper/newspaper with tamiya tape to make an edge so that the paper covers the whole car.

automotive blue masking tape works well. it is made to not be as sticky so it releases nice. i did a lawnmover project and did masking with that and news paper worked well

I used regular masking tape. There is no problem with masking on body paint - Automotive and clearcoated.
But if you will use regular masking tape over enamels, it could be a problem.
My practice is PRIME with PLASTIC PRIMER EVERY surface prior to painting with enamel and masking. It works OK for me.
