Power window woes

Sorry, I am new at this, but read the info on power window probs, and want to see if anyone can help with this. I removed the door panel on the pass. side of my 2000 Silverado to check out why the power window would not operate. With the panel off, I reconnected the switch and the window worked. When I got it all together again the window was not operating. Could this be a wiring prob, or simply a case of idiot's luck? All other electrical in the door is fine. I have replaced regulators before, but am retired and do not want the expense of a new regulator or motor unless necessary........Does motor come as unit with regulator. or is it an all in one deal?

If you have an electrical tester, disconnect the leads from the motor and check for voltage several times while toggling the switch. If you get consistent voltage here, then the problem is likely in the motor.

Good luck

I had power window problems with my drivers door on my 2000 Chevy. It just wouldn't motor down. I removed the panel and tapped the motor while trying to motor down. All of a suden it started to work, but when I motored up it sounded like it was working harder than the passenger side. It worked for about a month and then stopped again. You can get a motor kit without the regulator but you can't get the regulator without a motor so I opted to buy the complete regulator because at this point I was not sure exactly what the problem was. I took the old unit with me to work and we bench tested it and I can't find anything wrong with it--go figure!, but the new power window is working fine now.

Thanks, I have tried the switch, so I assume the prob. is motor or reg. Same symptoms as yours motor works if you move any of the attached parts, but not when you get it all zipped up. Thanks dpatrick. Will post results.
