I got up this morning going to work and the worst thing in the world happened to me. My 1996 GSR got stolen by some bastards. It is a very wierd feeling, i finally called the police and the insurance and i'm in a temporary car right now but it really sucks. They didnt break the windows and i'm in an apartment complex so they should've had a security but that didn't work... and everyone else ignores the alarms now adays so it doest make any difference.
Whoever these people are they are the worst kind in the world, stealing what you've worked so hard to build and earn. I'm just hoping that something good turns out... this really sucks.

Man that sucks. I hate theft. It really bugs me that people have to steal things. If you want something go out and get a damn job like everyone else and buy it.
Sorry to hear about that man. I hope they find your car and in good shape. Good luck.

now i know what it feels like to become a statistic... integra's are one of the most stolen (if not the #1) vehicles in the U.S. ... i just never thought it would happen to me.
i'm not sure what i'm going to do next if they do find the car and in what condition? now i'm gonna have to wonder if they abused the car or whatever else they did to it... should i keep it or not.... it's really depressing.

Did it have an alarm? I got a good Clifford after someone tried to steal my last car. I was so po'ed, it was the first mod I made on my car.
BTW, I went outside and grabbed them, and they did NOT get my car. Too bad you couldn't have done that.
It happened at 4:00 AM - lots of thefts are done then, because statistically, that's the hour when the greatest number of people are asleep.

yeah it had an alarm but i didn't hear it since i was really tired last night... the people who did hear it just ignored it since alarms go off all the time. they said that it happened around 2-3AM in the morning. There was supposed to be a security guard going around the apartment complex but i don't think he heard anything either or just ignored it maybe...
it would've been sweet revenge if you see the guy trying to jack your car... i'm just not sure what my first reaction would be.... grab something blunt
these thieves are the worst people on the planet... why can't they just do something useful instead of violating other peoples property?!?!?!
:angryfire :aug2: :badass:

whenever i park the Chevelle ANYWHERE other than in my garage or a friends house, i always put a Club on it, then i pop the hood, remove the ignition coil wire, and disconect the throttle linkage. most of the punks that steal cars for joyrides wouldn't know an old style ignition setup if it hit them in the head, and they definetely wouldn't know how to set up a carbs throttle linkage with the return springs. Especially if the two return springs are in my pocket along with the coil wire!! also when i'm staying over somewhere, i'll have a friend block me in, so that if anyone wants my car, they'll have to do some serious improvising to even get the thing running, and then steal another car as well to get to mine. too much of a pain in the ass for the average car theif.

I couldn't find my baseball bat, so I grabbed a sickle (think of the sharp cutting object on the old Soviet flag ;)) and grabbed the guy. His head was in my trunk, looking for tools, because he didn't bring the right sized screwdriver to take apart my ignition.
I scared the crap out of him, but didn't injure him. I did call the cops though.
Sounds like you didn't have an ignition cutoff on the alarm. That should be an aim for your next alarm. Or, remove the coil wire when you park overnight. However, if they *really* want your car, they'll get it :(

i think the sound of a colt 1911 .45 slide is enough. If they dont run, then give them a slug.
Also, isnt there a enw alti-theft device, something that is like the club, only for your clutch pedal/brake pedal? so it would lock your clutch or brake all the way up so that they cant depress it? anyone know if it's any good?

i'll drive the Chevelle every day as long as it's not winter(roadsalt) and it's not raining. i won't do the ignition and linkage if i'm only gonna be away from it for 2 min. i'll put the club on it though. if you know what you're doing, it only takes about a minute to get her set back up(i've done it so many times). i love just spending time with her under the hood anyways (my old girlfriend hated how much time i would spend with the Chevelle LOL.), so it's not like it really matters. if it's what keeps it from being stolen, then that's the way it's gonna be. because if i ever hear of anyone even thinking of touching my baby, they better start running right now.

Thats a damn good idea!! From now on I'll just disconnect the input and outputs on my TECII ECU, or just disconnect the magnetic pickup on the crank trigger sensor, w/o that the car wont run!! Also was thinkin maybe i could have my girl put 2 of the spark plug wires in her purse (lord knows they will fit in that huge bag she carries), but would this stop a thief or would the car just run crappy on 2 cylinders?

HAHAHA. yeah, you pretty much nailed it, Sicklude. we split for different reasons, though. she understood the car thing though(she just liked to do the whole girl thing back at me). Her dad owned a '66 mustang fastback, then a '67 Corvette 327 roadster, and now is doing a frame off resto on a '66 Corvette 427 coupe. all in the span of the 2.5 years we were dating. she got so frustrated cause she just couldn't get away from guys and cars if she tried. she'd leave her house with her dad block sanding the 427, only to have me roll out from under the Chevelle to ask her to get me a 9/16" box wrench as she got out of her car. she loved the whole shirtless, sweaty, oily with coveralls thing though ;-) .....heh heh.

know some guy who USED to jack cars he's gone straight now -- he told me how they stole them -- Professionals will jog past your house or neighbourhood a couple of times and they will work out your average day - they won't brake the window they'll try the least damaging method -- Alarms are useless and the GPS things are useless because there are only so many places you can put them -- the best think to do with your car is keep it in you garage and have as much shit on it as possible -- Clifford (i think) produce an alarm system that if you notice the car is stolen u can dail it up and tell it to stop -- it'll stop used a smoke screen inside the car put on the warning lights and lock them in -- some one else i know has installed Wire thru the handles and around the stereo so that if you touch it you'll get electrocuted -- custom made someone took his stereo he was pissed

Don't they have black boxes in the US of A???? Better known as GPS tracking systems, my nieghbour and best mate has one in his R-34 GTR and a couple of months ago, there was a car theft spree in my street anyway the thieves managed to beat his cars locks (But failed to beat mine:D) and made off, I wake up to my alarm, throw on some clothes and chase him off they hoon down the street with his Skyline (As well as an HSV and WRX) I wake him up he gets on the phone to the monitoring center thingee and they instantley track his car, which by the time we catch up to it is at a port in Gisborne where the Police are dragging them off and unloading a shipload of performance cars. The moral???? GPS saves cars

You're right... it's called LO JACK. They cost around $500-$700 bucks and i guess you have to pay a yearly fee or something... but i'm definitely gonna get one installed when i get a new nice car. I'm almost 95% sure i won't get the car back or at least in a good condition... even though the police guys said they have 95% of recovery rate here in Las Vegas...
I recommend everyone getting this or some type of tracking so they can find it right away. Check if your local police uses it first for tracking and if they do then get it.

still no results from the police. the insurance company said that if nothing comes up in two weeks they will start processing the claim to pay the finance company.
here's a pic from the police report... it's kinda funny.

although i havent totally given up i have a feeling that if those thieves knew what they were doing they would totally dismantle the car and sell every part. that's one thing about honda/acura cars, you can get part from an acura and plug it into a honda.... so there will be a lot of buyers for my parts --- the engine alone is a treasure since a lot of civic owners will spend money to swap their sohc with a 170hp integra engine. not to mention the rims, and other mods that i added. :(
these guys buying stolen parts aren't helping at all either, they're just as bad as the thieves themselves.
i still have a week before the insurance company finally starts processing the paper work to pay for the car and i'm not sure if they are going to pay for the mods... we'll just see until then. i'll keep you updated.

Ok, as of today i have finally found out how much they were going to write off the vehicle for...
i will end up getting a few hundred bucks for the car in return... but still not enough after what i put down on a 95 prelude which is back at the dealer today because the previous owner took off the muffler and they have to put it back, smog it, and align it.
here is also a trick, the insurance paid for 80% of my car rental until the case was closed, so what i did is i didn't call them back until i found a new car so i can riding on a rental that they were paying 80% for. even though i wanted to get the whole situation fixed right away i didn't want to be without a vehicle.
so that's the full report... the new prelude is nice, cheaper monthly payment over the 96 GSR, but a few bucks higher on the insurance rates.

Hey bro! While I'm glad that you have another car now... a "few hundred bucks" seems kinda low as a settlement. Something is off there. Maybe I didn't get the whole story? My friend's settlement was $4K for a car he bought for $1K. And he messed up the engine after he bought it... so it was really worth about 500 bucks. (not sure how he managed that one)
As far as alarms: I find that the Winchester 12 guage with a laser sight seems to work pretty well. From your bedroom window, point it at their eye. If they don't see the laser red dot (visual deterrent), then try racking it once (audible deterrent).:smoker2:

they actually paid off the car which is good and i got a few hundred bucks extra from the the upgrades i guess, and i had a high deductible too... so it worked out ok.
audible detterent is good, just make sure they don't get to your hood and disable it right away... some of them can do it in a matter of seconds and if they do it late at night... no one will bother looking... unless it's at your house.
