coming along nicely.....what kind of black plastic piece is that on the side skirts?

chrismcgee
04-08-2004, 02:33 PM
well the black card is just 1mm thick polystyrene card, which is cool to make parts out of, the white card is 0.3mm thick

This is going to be a sweet project! Keep us updated!

chrismcgee
04-08-2004, 09:27 PM
well the rear is now done (photos tomorrow) with a pair of rear spats.
and have started to blend the white parts of the skirts into the black parts to make a smoother look.

more putty has been applied before the main rubbing down and shaping of the front bumper!

i like the front bumper

chrismcgee
04-09-2004, 10:42 AM
ok, well the body is starting to get a bit smoother now, and the rear spats have been blended in to the body.
there is a lot more work that the front bumper is gonna see i just need to get it to an even state before i can do cutouts etc.

I wanna make this car as individual as possible. Not a generic celica.
any suggestions will be recieved well

Wow, I like it. smooth and subtle.

chrismcgee
04-09-2004, 10:56 AM
thanks dude, its got so many interesting lines to take inspiration from, plus i always thought the new celica looked to stubby on front. lengthening the front seemed to be a good way of solving this.

Looks great. Are you going for dual exhaust?

chrismcgee
04-09-2004, 11:13 AM
just made on hks hiper style exhaust, apr only run a single can, but i may make a pair of them.

does anyone have a pic of a twin exhausted celica?

Blowncivic1320
04-09-2004, 11:14 AM
Looks real good, front kinda reminds me of the feels kit for the civic

mike@af
04-09-2004, 11:30 AM
First off thank you for making the pictures smaller.

I think this is a pretty sweet project. I have one suggestion though, I think the front bumper should be a little more complex/detailed. I'm not sure if your going for a smooth look, or a complex look. Just a suggestion though.

chrismcgee
04-09-2004, 11:36 AM
yes the bumper is gonna be a lot more complex, i just needed to get the basic shape first then i was gonna carve and shape the rest. i am gonna base it around the veilside front bumper if i can

chrismcgee
04-09-2004, 12:07 PM
well here is a quick pic of the wheels im using, they are aoshima veilside andrew dish rims 18"

i am going to have to reapaint the centres as they are scuffed!

also the exhaust has been temp placed on car

This project is pretty sweet! The front end extension looks great (just like the Veilside 350Z Stage 3 Body kit). Great job so far!

chrismcgee
04-09-2004, 02:29 PM
well thanks to my good mate joeclaw i now have a set of decals designed and printed for the celica, door graphics and side graphics look great. cant wait to fit them

04-09-2004, 04:28 PM
Nice looking build! I'm doing a wide body Celica on and off right now... but I'm gonna have to redisign the paint scheme as we seem to have had the same idea with the graphics! Can't wait to se yours done.

chrismcgee
04-10-2004, 08:38 AM
oops, sorry dude.
do you have any ideas yet what your gonna do?

chrismcgee
04-13-2004, 07:00 AM
well here is a little more progress. now you can see why i build up the front so much. so that i could shape it nicely.
Will drill some spotlight/air intake holes into the bumper when all is smooth.

i much prefer the new lines like this, gives the front a mouth like appearance.

Looks good Chris! The sides of the bodykit look similar to the Buddy Club kit.

chrismcgee
04-13-2004, 10:16 AM
thats cool, i never realy based the side skirts on anything in particular. but im glad you like them.

Cant wait to get paint onto this little pupply. should make it perfect when it gets that glossy shine on it! A nice and vibrant red is gonna cover it perfectly! a bit like the apr red i hope. (even tho its from audi!)

are there any other suggestions?

very nice work chris, i really enjoy the new front! i like the way it slopes gracefully downward folling the already existing slope of the celica.

chrismcgee
04-13-2004, 03:21 PM
cheers guys, i think this is the last of the mods to the front bumper at the mo. Gonna sand it silky smooth then give it a sweet coat of Audi lazer red then leave it to dry nice and good.

Interior will be a combination of red and black with maybe solid red front seats if the mood takes me.

chrismcgee
04-14-2004, 03:28 PM
Well i have finaly finished the body work, gonna sand it smooth then im gonna paint it tomorrow. The hood is gonna get sprayed black or should i just carbon the centre of the hood with decal and smoke x19.

I might also make a start on the interior.

looking great.

How do you sand those lines so perfect?

chrismcgee
04-14-2004, 03:38 PM
what i did is by using a very sharp scalpel i began to cut a deep line about 3 mm deep, then i used the scalpel to chisel it away in vertical strokes, then i used the scalpel to neaten up the edges as best as possible. finaly i used sandpaper (800 grit) to make it all smooth.

The fact i built it up quite deep before i started carving made things easier than adding it later on.

Am glad you like the kit as it is :sunglasse

whoa whoa whoa whoa, that thing is sweet! The car has a nice flow to it. Very nice work. Cant wait to see how it will look with paint :p

chrismcgee
04-14-2004, 05:52 PM
well i have so far applied 3 layers of the red paint and it looks sooooooooo sweet. am realy happy with the look so far.
Paint has made it seem so much more real and less of a model if you know what i mean, lol.
Cant wait for the decals to arrive either. gonna be so sweet! might start building a load of celicas! they have some great agressive lines to them which lend themselves to agressive kits.

will post photos tomorrow as im off to bed now

GvEman
04-14-2004, 06:02 PM
sweet! that must be one of the most sweetest bodykits to a celica.... post some of yours pictures to a compay that makes bodykits in 1:1 and hear if they wants to buy your idea. ;) but i do not know if there is a bodykit like that already..... Any way Sweet!

that body kit is aggressive, yet very smooth, i love it, and that shine is amazing, i thought you were gonna drill the holes?

GvEman
04-15-2004, 11:31 AM
looks stuning!

chrismcgee
04-15-2004, 12:57 PM
have decided not to drill the holes in the end and put a decal on there instead, i thought that as soon as i started drilling i would mess it up so i played safe and left it.
buti like it more like this i think. gotta make myself up an intercooler now.

Also carbon has been placed in the centre as per the APR celica.

04-15-2004, 01:12 PM
that is looking really nice, did u use an airbrush or rattle cans?

04-15-2004, 01:33 PM
Very nice! I'm always amazed at your ability to sculpt the body kits. They are always clean, smooth, with sharp lines, and above all, symmetrical. Great work! I can't wait to see this pupply finished....

well here is the carbon hood, am still considering just removing the decal and spraying the hood solid black and gunmetal mix tho.
But it will be a while before i get to clear coat due to a wait on the decals.

but i think its coming along ok

the cf in the middle is very original!

chrismcgee
04-17-2004, 04:51 AM
well i have left my camera in the car but i have now made a start on the lights, not gonna leave them as standard because i hate them with a passion. so i have filed off that little "hump" at the top and cut a slanted oval where it used to be.
And am about to cover them with carbon fibre to look like JGTC headlights.
think this will look good with the centre carbon.

chrismcgee
04-17-2004, 08:47 AM
well here are the pics, i realy like this look, the sas carbon conformed realy well and looks the nuts here!
this car now kinda reminds me of spiderman!!! hahahaha.

Also here is my carbon/aluminium rear can, real ally tip and styrene body, then coated in sas carbon. Must order some more running out.

hope you like

(nothing is fixed in place yet by the way)

I would go with full Hood for the CF..

cos like that, it's look kinda cheap.

Also, I don't really like the CF Light (never seen that before)

only my opinion !

chrismcgee
04-17-2004, 10:10 AM
i just realy want this to look like a road going jgtc car, the r34 racing skylines have carbon lights with one hid light in each. i didnt wanna do a full carbon hood as with the lights too it would look a little over the top.

Also there are decals to go on soon, sponsors etc and graphics.

am also considering a carbon roof panel

and last but not least i am considering spraying red laquer over the carbon parts? what do you think?

mike@af
04-17-2004, 11:27 AM
Did somebody say cool? That is awesome! CF Rims now!
