99 Tahoe steering wheel shaking

Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I have a 99 Tahoe that the steering wheel shakes when stopping (APPLYING BRAKES) it would do it at any speed. I have replaced both calipers, brake discs, pads, bearings, have new tires on it. I have no idea what's causing the shaking. A friend of mine checked the ball joins and said everything look OK. He thinks that the problem could be the seals for the stabilizer bar. I'll appreciate any help provided.

Perhaps the Universal joints on the drive shaft? Usually they vibrate when you just going down the road.

Check/replace the rotors.

It is a known problem that they warp.

I have a 97 with about 100K on it. I had the shaking also when hit bumps or pot holes. It was worn Pitman arm.

I had a shop do it since there is only about 2" clearance between the nut and the anti-sway bar mandating a special tool ($80 tool.)

The interesting thing is they had removed the tie rod end from the center link and did not full tighten it when reinstalling. This gave the effect of worn tie rod. The effect was shaking ONLY at slow speeds when applying the BRAKES. So I thought it was discs.

No problem at highway speeds..."don't try this at home... completely losing a tie rod end could be detrimental to your health"

For completeness...I had shaking when hitting bumps at 57K. It was idler arm. Tires (BFG A/T's) would also shake somewhat under same conditions near end of life (replaced at 58K).

I have had similiar shaking with my Range Rover, tie rod ends and tires.
