99 Sub New Engine Replacement

My suburban was running fine when I took it in to get the intake gasket replaced. When I picked it up, it sounded terrible so I took it back to the shop. Three days later they called and said it was finished, when I picked it up this time it sounded worse. I drove it straight from that shop to another 4 miles down the road (clanking the whole way). Then new shop told me what I already knew....The engine was shot. It only has 92,000 on it. Ran fine going in, blew up coming out. Now I need a new engine. Any suggestions or recommendations on a rebuilt or new engine while I'm trying to get the shop who broke it to help pay for it?

best bet it probably to get a gm crate engine. i'm guessing the mechanic who did the repairs used a buffer to remove the old gasket and didn't cover the lifter valley or ports so the gasket residue screwed up some bearings and pistons. it really pisses me off when a tech is careless enough to let this happen. if you're looking for a cheaper solution you could get a used engine from an auto recycler i've had good luck going this route. just make sure you get a decent warranty with the engine you swap in. good luck
