I have a 99 Z71 and my parking light socket is corroded and I have purchased a new one. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to wire it? Should I cut the old one off close to the socket or not?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks

You need to wait, and see how the new socket looks when you get it.
Most likely it will arrive with a wire (pig tail) this will clue you in on where the old wires have to be cut.
A good splice is accomplished with shrink tubed, and soldered joints with clean (NON) corroded base wire. So you may have to cut back at least accouple inch's or so, corrosion will travel down wire with complete ease.
Don't let anybody talk you into a But splice, these allow water and air to mix with the wire and cause corrosion!

Thanks for replying. I have recieved the new socket already and the wires attached to the new one are about a foot long. Am I going to need to cut the old wires a foot back or will it work ok if I just attach the new socket wires about 2 inches back??

You can cut anywhere from 12 inch's down, it's intirely your choice.
