68 Dart Hemi

I recently picked up a 1968 Dodge Dart Hemi at a junk yard, while it was missing the tranny and whole rear end, it has a perfect condition 426 Hemi engine with 65,000 miles on the odometer. The body is in perfect condition except for the right rear quarter panel which has a bit of rust, but other than that it seems the car is in perfect condition. I was just wondering if all this was worth the $11,500 price i paid. I was looking for an old muscle car to restore and hoped i picked a winner.

if it is one of the original darts with the fiberglass nose, mirror delete, light weight seats and all that other good stuff. you just stole that car. but if not you deffinetally got it cheap. lucky you.

If it is an original Hemi Dart, it is a steal. If it is at least an original running Hemi engine, it still was a good deal.

If that car was there for any amount of time in that boneyard, anyone who knows anything about cars would have picked it up a long time ago. Those cars are retardedly rare. Are you sure this is correct?

And this guy wants to know if it's worth the money he paid, my god, some guys have all the luck.

I bet you that motor isn't number's matching, and that it's out of something else. But, if that's the correct motor for that car, it is incredibly rare.

$11,500 for a Hemi Dart? Dude, that motor is worth that and more! That body is super-light...Just add the 18-sline Hemi 4 speed and a Dana 60 with 4.30 to 4.88s and yer knocking on the 10-second door. I dream about finds like that!!!

Dude, this guy is full of it. There is no way he found a hemi dart in a junk yard. Not to mention, if he's in the "Dodge" forum, I would assume he knows the value of a Hemi. Therefore, he wouldn't be asking us if he got a good deal, he'd already know it. :screwy:

I am new to this so help me out if you dont mind. I have heard of a ture Hemi Dart that I am going to look at sun, can anyone tell me what to look for and what it is worth. I know that it does not have the orignal motor but that is all I know about it at this time.

It's probably best for you to start a new thread on this subject. You will get a better response than rehashing an old, unrelated thread.

I do not know much on this, but I think the only factory Hemi Darts were sold as drag race cars only and were not intended for street legal use. They were stripped down and lightweight, and EXTREMELY rare and valuable.

If this car has a complete interior, steel bumpers, etc, chances are the Hemi is not original. More likely it had a small block V8 or 6 cyl that was removed to make room for the Hemi. It's value depends a lot on condition and how well the Hemi installation was done.

Can you post some pics?

I have a hemi dart 68 was a race car no eng or tranny, the car was trying to be converted to be street legal and a 69 dash with different ID numbers are on the dash and they welded the rear fenders back to original way they were. their is a different Id number on the radiater frame and I hear that their is another ID number somewhere else on the car I am told but do not know where. the car is in good shape and has a plastic bumper and plastic windows, roll bar, hirise hood, is stripped out inside, have a receipt for when it was raced in phoenix. I would like to sell the car and I guess that it is worth more if I can prove it was a original hemi dart. the first letter starts with a R on the radiator frame. mxsf @aol.com 916-686-1375 phone
