Wtf?!?!

I was driving down alameda,In my t-bird(If any of you live near la)and I get to this stop.Then an accord coupe drives right next to me.He revs it and says,"Race to the next light".So the light turns green and I punch it.I guess his reaction time was a little slow because I kinda got him by 1/4th of a car at the start,THEN all of a sudden,he slows down and turns into a street!.Im like WTF.He just sped off into the little street.I was confused,did I forget something he said about a turn? He CLEARLY said "To the next light" So I guess I won,right?

Can anyone explain what happened? This was only my third street race.I must not have the lingo down yet or something.

lol, the lingo :p well i'm willing to bet what happened is he expected to get the jump on you right from the start and when he saw you take off first he was too embarassed to follow through coz he could see his accord had nothin against your car. Either that or as an alternative it could be he was just being an ass and telling you to race till the next light when in reality he was going left all along. Who knows. remember, if you're gonna street race be safe about it and make sure you're willing to take the risks. have fun :biggrin:

yeah, It's basically another version of the "Loser fly-by"(when you win but they keep racing by you even after you've started to slow down). He was just too emabarrased to look you in the eye again so he turned off the road. It's happened to me about 3-4 times. That kinda sucks that he gave up so early on you tho.

What he could have been doing was to provoke you to race as he goes onto another street hoping that you get caught speeding. Its one of the things that these ricers do that pisses me off the most, they instigate the race yet, run off hoping you get a ticket.

Now everytime I see an accord dirve by,ill think of that coward as he was turning into that street.

All Hondas just plain suck, do like the most of us and don't bother wasting your gas on these losers

is it just me or does everyone feel insulted at the fact that some Honda's are called import "race" cars? To me their economy cars, just like a cavelier or something.

I was gonna say the same thing Poly....we have had plenty of "(insert make or model here) sucks" threads in the past, and they are pointless.

Anyways, what happened is that the guy obviously had a superiority complex....Your car was superior, therefore he needed to turn into the nearest apartment complex...funny no,true...VERY.

i think the only honda worth of the race car designation is that AEM drag honda that runs 7s or something. of course that's not exactly what the cops like to call "street legal"...

and about the loser flyby...i know how ya feel. i was racing a guy on the freeway (wide open road for about 1/2 mile or so). 3 lanes cuts down to 2 so there's 2 cars side by side in the two lanes and the exit ramp is open. so i obviously slow down so as not to hit anybody (i'm in the left lane). this dip shit goes flying 95 onto the exit ramp and missed the big grass ditch at the end probably by 10 feet. then fish tailed the somehow regained control. one of the most hilarious things i've seen in my life.

I'm a guilty one for doing the loser fly-by a few times, but it's my own fault for following through with races I know I wasn't going to win in the first place, just in it for the quick rush.. However most of the people in my area are really cool about races, they'll wave at ya after one whether they win or lose or flash their hazards at ya..

haven;t you ever heard of Honda Type r's ???? my friend has a B18c5 engine in his crx and that thing spins the wheels on every gear change. its a beast of a honda let me tell you, almost as fast as my camaro and its a stock standard engine. When the Vtec kicks in at around 8000rpm its absolutely unreal. And this isn't even the best type r engine honda makes. you forget that hondas have two good points in their cars:
1) Honda engines love to rev and rev really high.
2) Hondas are mostly extremely light weight cars

yes calling them "race cars" is a bit of an exaggeration but bashing Hondas isn't right either.

ahhhh a CRX with a B-18c5......hate to come across one of those......there are also CRXs with H22a turbo swaps that run 9s and they are street legal.....CRX's are mad fast with some of those B-series motors.

What would have made the story funny is, after he turned. A cop pulled you over who happened to be sitting behind a billboard 30 ft. away. Not funny for you, but funny in how he would have played you. you gotta be careful when you race people you dont know.

That still doesnt settle the fact that everyone and their grandma either has or wants one.. Get something either with harder to find parts, or somthing no one would dare try to euro... like a pinto for instance, that would be interesting

I think I was getting on Honda's but I don't really remember, I was TUI last night (Typing Under the Influence)..

To me a race car definition is any car which has the capability to be raced or driven aggressively, whether it's been modded or not. So by that definition, once someone mods a honda it ceases to be an economy car and becomes a race car (assuming it has been modded sufficiently).

Honestly now, how many civics have you seen that werent riced out? (to me a riced out car is one that has all the outside mods and no performance mods yet stilll thinks their car is modded for racing)

actually my friends B18C5 powered crx is fully stock standard looking on the outside with the exception of his black lightweight racing rims.... thats the whole pleasure of driving it :p it looks fully stokc standard and little would the other driver know that the crx has a B18C5, full coilover suspension and lightweight rims :p the looks on other peoples faces is priceless :p thats the bad thing with driving a car like my camaro, no one want to race coz they all know its got a huge engine, but everyone wants to race a crx :p

Maybe where you live there are some nice Hondas. I have yet to see one here that isn't rice material. I have seen more modded Neons then Hondas. Unfortunantly for me, I have a bad view on the civic's, even though I hear good things about them...ah well

BUT...That's not to say that car isn't fast. Rice simply refers to exterior mods that make the car look like a race car. When the driver has totally riced out his car and has done no performance mods, that's a totally different thing. That's simply a POSER. Rice is NOT bad, it's simply exterior fast-looking mods wether or not the car IS fast or the driver's a poser.

Rice is a style really, you can be a ricer and have the fastest car. Generally the term is just associated with the posers that slap on a bodykit and muffler.

I'm sorry, I didnt know there was an actual definition for the term ricer...I thought it was a personal interpretation of what one thinks a ricer is. Considering its not even a real word relating to what it "defines", I dont think someones opinion can actually be wrong. I'm not hating on you, just saying that there are several "definitions" of ricer.
