So doing springs without a compressor

so guess what i just realise.... I don't have a spring compressor anymore to do my rear shocks. Now I know your all gonna tell me go get yourself a spring compressor again. BUT.... I'm wondering if I can do these while in the car. Unbolt the top while still mounted... then slowly jack the car up making sure that everything isn't going to go flying all over the place. I never have done it this way before but everything says to me that this should work if I'm very very careful. I know if it pop's loose I will risk breaking windows, walls, floors, or loosing some fingers or killing myself.

i've done it this way on a ATV before, but never on a car.

but do you have any ideas? :screwy:

lol. good job! i just put springs on myself. i rented the spring compressor from Auto Zone to do it. the compressor couldnt fit on the front shocks so i just put the strut againts a wall while i loosened the nut on the shock. nothing came flying out when the bolt came off but it did spring back a lil. i was so scared to take the nut off without the spring comressor but everything worked fine. i was able to use the spring compressor on the rear shocks...(well thats after i was able to get the damn shocks out. the bolt that holds the shock to the rear lower control arm was frozen inside the bushing. i had to cut the bolts off and push out the old bushing and push in a new one. I HATE SUSPENSION WORK ON HONDA/ACURA's!!!!!!)

Im riding on STOCK shocks now with nuespeed race springs! ride is really bad. i need some koni yellows!
